New Faculty Faces!  

Jennifer Bomberger, Ph.D. is arriving in September as the 3rd and final hire of the CF Cluster. She will be coming as a full professor in Microbiology and Immunology in September, bringing 4 current lab members with her. Jen works on bacterial and viral infection and immunity in the cystic fibrosis lung and is coming to us from The University of Pittsburgh and will be located on Vail 5.

Mark Sundrud, Ph.D. is arriving in August from University of Florida/Scripps as a partnership between Dartmouth Health/Department of Medicine and Microbiology and Immunology. Mark will be a full professor and works on mucosal immunology and IBD/Crohn’s. He will be bringing 2 graduate students with him and his lab will be on Borwell 6.

Tyler J. Curiel, MD arrived in May from the University of Texas, San Antonio as a joint effort between Dartmouth Health and Dartmouth-Hitchcock’s Norris Cotton Cancer Center (NCCC). Tyler’s appointment as Professor is in the Department of Medicine with a secondary appointment in Microbiology and Immunology. His lab is on Rubin 7.

Nicole Loeven received a CPEP Fellowship from the American Society of Microbiology for clinical microbiology training at the University of Pennsylvania 

Fabrice Jean-Pierre won a poster prize at the Pseudomonas Conference

Rebecca Vall received the Crowd's Favorite award for Dartmouth's 3 Minute Thesis competition

Asmaa Mohamed received the 2022 AAI Trainee Abstract Award

Josh Kerkaert selected as the 2022 Milton Huppert Graduate Student Awardee by the Medical Mycology Society of the Americas (MMSA). It recognizes outstanding graduate student in the field of Medical Mycology. Josh will give a presentation at the MMSA Annual Symposium as part of the award.

Daniel Murante received the Early Career Researcher Talk award at the FEBS 2022 Conference on Molecular Mechanisms of Host-Pathogen Interactions and Virulence in Human Fungal Pathogens
PUBLICATIONS

Josh Obar's MAVS expression in alveolar macrophages is essential for host resistance against Aspergillus fumigatus. (This article was chosen by the Editors as a "Top Read" for the Issue and will be highlighted)

Amy Biermann had a publication chosen as an Editor’s Pick at mSphere.

Dallas Mould has a paper in eLife that was chosen for a broad audience digest.
ADMINISTRATIVE UPDATES

We are saying farewell to Jacquelyn O'Brien as she leaves us to move closer to family and friends!  She has been a great addition and joy to have as part of our team. 

We have started the recruitment process, but finding a replacement and training will take time, so please be patient with us during this time.
