GALA End of School Year Celebrations
Congratulations to our students for successfully completing the 2021-2022 school year. We ended our year with field day at Jefferson Park. The students had a well-deserved great time, thanks to GALA's Physical Education teacher Lauren Jasica for for organizing the event and all of the family volunteers that came to support. Join GALA for Food, Family, and Fun!
All GALA families and interested families are invited to attend GALA's community engagement event on Friday, July 15 from 3:30-5:30 p.m.
We will have free ice cream, pizza, games, music, books, raffle prizes, information tables from community partners, and will be accepting student enrollment applications for the upcoming 2022-23 school year.

GALA is excited to introduce 5th/6th Grade English & Social Studies Teacher, Mr. Sellards!
Why are you excited about GALA?
I have been fascinated by different cultures my whole life. GALA offers me the very unique opportunity to work alongside people who share that same passion and to learn more about their backgrounds. When students are immersed in another language, they also get immersed into that culture, since language is such a big part of culture. It is a treat to see students’ views of the world open up and watch them become appreciative of other’s points of view.
Tell us about yourself
I have been teaching for about 20 years. Before being a teacher, I was a journalist working for both a magazine and a daily newspaper. I have particularly enjoyed working with students and helping them with their writing skills during my years as a teacher. This year I will also be celebrating 20 years of marriage to my best friend and wife Heidi. I have two teenage sons, Joseph (17) and Malachi (14) and we do a lot of activities together including listening to music and watching Star Wars and Marvel shows.
What do you do when you are not working?
We like to travel and explore, particularly in nearby parks. We live in Bedford, so we are right by the Bedford Reservation. We have two dogs and four cats, so we spend quite a bit of time taking care of them and playing with them. We also like to build structures in our backyard like a treehouse and a tower. Sometimes we play good old-fashioned board games, as well, and we also volunteer at a food pantry at our church each month.
What is your favorite activity and/or your favorite place in Cleveland?
I think I like to explore downtown the most, and the neighborhoods surrounding downtown. There are so many interesting buildings and fascinating architecture. I also like University Circle and all of the historical buildings around there, including the cultural gardens and museums.

GALA's administrative office is still open for the summer. Be sure to check our June summer hours before stopping by. Over the summer, you can enroll your child(ren) for the 2022-23 school year or call with any questions. A few spaces are still available for the upcoming school year.
