Evanston's Interfaith Reparations Effort
by Pastor Allison
Interfaith leaders in the Evanston area are joining together to support Evanston’s groundbreaking reparations program. The Interfaith Reparations Effort will include educational opportunities about reparations, accountable partnership building (atonement, truth-telling, history sharing), financial contributions to the Evanston Reparations Community Fund, and supporting the national reparations movement and H.R. 40 (see the link below for more details).
Please join me in representing St. John's at the Community Launch Event this Monday, June 13th, at 12 pm at Fountain Square in Evanston. If you cannot attend in person, you can watch the livestream on Beth Emet's Facebook page. Speakers will include clergy, elected officials, and representatives from the Reparations Stakeholders Authority of Evanston. Representatives from each participating faith community, including St. John's, will sign a commitment document during the event as a pledge to support the reparations effort in Evanston. To learn more about how we can live out this commitment, follow the link below.
