And it was back this year—with a bang! With the return of Asia Pacific Week this year, the air was once again abuzz with stimulating discussions and debates on a diverse range of themes and topics that are relevant and critical to Asia and the Pacific, and also globally. Under the theme ‘Pathways to Transformation: Resilience in an Age of Uncertainty’, this year’s student-run conference, with CHL's Professor Katerina Teaiwa as the academic convenor, aimed to challenge young leaders to defy the status quo and envisage pathways towards positive transformation.

Unseeded is a collection of 35 hand-blown glass boab nut forms developed by CHL ARC Discovery ECR Fellow Dr Ursula Frederick in collaboration with CHL Distinguished Professor Sue O’Connor

The artwork reflects upon the archaeological survey process observed by Frederick during fieldwork in Ningbing Range in Western Australia's Kimberley region with Miriuwung Gajerrong Traditional Owners and rangers.

Genomics, consumer DNA testing, and personal reconnections 
Murrindyarr-yaba Seminar Series

The emergence of genomic research in the 21st century is rapidly transforming our understanding of human history. CHL's Dr Ray Tobler introduces the basic scientific principles used to reconstruct human history and ancestry from genetic data and discusses how his colleagues and he have applied these methods to investigate the history of Indigenous Australians stretching back ~50,000 years.

The AlterNative Journal has just published this article by CHL PhD Scholar Elvin Xing Yifu. It is valuable theoretical, ethical and methodological piece that reflects on his ongoing work with tribals [adivasi communities] and the practice of fieldwork and knowledge production in anthropology.

Fulbright Distinguished Chair in Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences

Undertake collaborative research with faculty in the arts, humanities and social sciences at ANU with this award. The Distinguished Scholar also will engage with faculty, staff and students through guest lectures, seminars, and one-on-one interactions and will explore long-term collaborations and institutional linkages between her/his home institution and ANU.

•    You hold a medical exemption.

•    You're alone in a workspace or sitting or standing at your desk that is 1.5 metres
      away from any other person.

•    You're teaching; if required to ensure good communication and you are comfortable
     doing so. You must remain at the front of the class at least 1.5 metres away from
     others.

•    You're communicating with someone who is deaf or hard of hearing where
      visibility of the mouth is essential for communication.

•    You're consuming food, drink or medicine

•    You are undertaking vigorous exercise

•    In an emergency
