Overheard on Podcasting, Seriously Live

This week on Podcasting, Seriously Live on Twitter Spaces, we welcomed Tamara Zubatiy, CEO and co-founder of Barometer, an AI-based software that rates podcast content, to discuss brand suitability, context-based advertising, the future of content moderation in ad-tech, and more. Some takeaways are:

  • There is a slow adaptation to programmatic ads because many brands still have safety concerns around podcast content.
  • The World Federation of Advertisers created an initiative coined the Global Alliance for Responsible Media (GARM) identifying eleven components or categories of ways in which content could be harmful. This is how user generated content, like podcasts, are ranked for brand suitability.
  • Audience size does not guarantee return — niche audiences can be more engaged and thus more valuable.
