Overheard on Podcasting, Seriously Live
|
|
This week on Podcasting, Seriously Live on Twitter Spaces, we welcomed Tamara Zubatiy, CEO and co-founder of Barometer, an AI-based software that rates podcast content, to discuss brand suitability, context-based advertising, the future of content moderation in ad-tech, and more. Some takeaways are:
- There is a slow adaptation to programmatic ads because many brands still have safety concerns around podcast content.
- The World Federation of Advertisers created an initiative coined the Global Alliance for Responsible Media (GARM) identifying eleven components or categories of ways in which content could be harmful. This is how user generated content, like podcasts, are ranked for brand suitability.
- Audience size does not guarantee return — niche audiences can be more engaged and thus more valuable.

Shaneez Tyndall (she/her) is a seasoned writer and multimedia producer. As the daughter of Guyanese immigrants whose sacrifices emboldened her to dream big, she is passionate about stories of culture, hope, and resilience. The Toronto native pioneered her role on PRX’s training team, supporting the development of ten Podcasting 101 videos and co-running logistics for Project Catapult and the Google Podcasts creator program. Shaneez has produced work for Pod People, Spotify, LWC Studios, and Other Men Need Help, and her stories have received recognition from Final Draft, ScreenCraft, BET and ColorCreative. Shaneez is currently working on LWC and OWN: The Oprah Winfrey Network's new show Trials to Triumphs, curating Frootful stories, producing shorts with the Filmmaker Collaborative, and writing her first book. She loves traveling, a good dad joke, and Sunday brunch. Developing stories and curating platforms for creatives to expand beyond society’s “margins” are her life’s work.
