- All children - Games kit
- Commonwealth Baton Relay - Following a whole school relay and celebration, 5 Owl children to deliver baton to Over Kellet school (email sent to those parents)
- Please could Year 2 all bring a container that holds water to school on Monday. It doesn't need not be sealed, so a clean yoghurt pot, or a bottle without a lid will be fine. We are measuring capacity and need lots of different sized containers to explore. Any size is fine, from yoghurt pot to 2l pop bottle. Thank you.
Tuesday
- All Tuck shop Tuesday - 50p a snack, all proceeds to our Kenyan school friends.
- BLAthon - Small team of five children, emails have been sent
Thursday
- Owls family worship - Families of Owl class are welcome to join us in Robin class for the family worship, 9:10am - 9:30am
Friday
- Robins PE kit
- Puffins and Nursery - PE kit
- Owls - Four children are going to the Rotakids conference with Mr Pedder (permission given a while ago, please check ParentPay) These children need to be in smart school uniform to represent the school.
- Owls - All Owl children not attending the Rotakids conference will be travelling to Morecambe to watch the Commonwealth Baton be passed, via the Lifeboat round the Bay to Fleetwood. School games kit please (please make sure it is purple t-shirt and hoody with dark bottoms as we are representing school.

In the last few weeks we have welcomed Bella, Arthur, Charlie and Angus to Arkholme school, we would like to give them a big welcome to the Arkholme school family!

In the classroom this week!

This half term started in the best way with our Reception trip to the beach. We enjoyed building sandcastles, exploring the prom and it's playgrounds before having a picnic at happy mount park and a ride on the train. This has allowed reception to write so super seaside poems.
In maths we've been thinking about doubling, why not try at home double 2 is 4 ..... etc.
We've also had a first go at some races on preparation for sports day in a few weeks time which we all really enjoyed.
Could Reception all please have PE kit in school so we can get changed on a Monday and Thursday. Forest school will be most Fridays so please come in old clothes unless I let you know otherwise.

Welcome back Robins! We hope you had a lovely half term break! Although the final term, it is usually the busiest and this one is no exception!! This term out topic is “Beside the Seaside”. We will be learning all about the geography of our coastline and going rock pooling as part of our science to explore what living things we can discover in the local area. Please see knowledge organisers below for information.
This week we have finding out the differences between living, non living and never living items. We went on a ln exploration around the school grounds and used our noticing skills to find different items. On Wednesday we had lots of fun outside doing team games and trails around the grounds. On Thursday we learnt about Pentecost. We made Holy Spirit head bands, and, inspired by the disciples being able to understand many languages, we learnt some new languages ourselves! Miss Cleave taught us some Spanish, and our very own D'Angelo taught us some Portuguese!
In year 2 we have been looking at a wordless picture book called 'Flotsam'. We have been predicting what the book might be about and making inferences from the pictures. Mrs Whitaker brought in a very old camera to inspire our writing and we used our imagination to write about characters from the past in the story. In maths we have been learning how to measure mass and read scales.... a perfect opportunity to practice and home with some baking!!
It was lovely to see everyone again and hear all about their half term holiday fun!
This week we have only began to look at our new story ‘Lost and Found’. We watched the trailer and thought about how the penguin looked and felt when he knocked on the boy's door. We have used thought bubbles to show what the boy or the penguin might be thinking when they saw each other on the doorstep. Yesterday we did fantastic writing in creating our 'Found' poster. A great week of writing Year 1!
In Maths we have had a recap on counting in 2's and 5's. We have done this in lots of ways- using resources in our classroom, singing songs from Number Fun and then also on worksheets.
As it was Bad Hair Day on Friday, we created our own Bad Hair Picture by listening and reacting to the music 🎶! You can see them on the Robin's Class windows at pick up time.

This week in Kingfisher class the children have begun a new unit of maths on Time. Everyone has recapped their learning so far, ready for new learning next week. In English, the children have worked hard to complete their Jubilee themed short stories ready for our 500-word competition and revisited expanded noun phrases.
In topic, we have continued our mountain theme, finding out all about Everest and creating fact-files full of information. We enjoyed watching drone footage of an expedition to Everest and the scenery was stunning on our lovely big screen. The children are trying to memorise some of the key facts that they have learnt this week such as the height and age of Everest, the reason behind its name, the first successful climbers to reach the summit and the meaning of its name in other languages. They have learnt that Everest is part of the Himalayas and should be able to tell you which countries have a border at the summit. They can also talk about how many people are allowed to climb the mountain each year and why this number is limited, together with the kit needed to climb. They have done lots of good learning that I'm sure they would love to share! Next week, we will be learning about a mountain closer to home and making comparisons between the two.
In our PE lesson this week, we have started a new unit and on Tuesday afternoon we enjoyed a lovely sunny afternoon playing golf! Today, everyone has enjoyed crazy hair day with Mr Mackinnon!

A lot going on in Owls Class this week, particularly in preparation for the end of year play.
In Maths we have been looking at line graphs, how to read and interpret these as well as being able to draw our own.
In English, we have been recapping the structure and features of non-chronological reports and made presentations about a London landmark. These will help us when we come to write our non-chronological reports about London Landmarks next week as one of them will already be researched.
The Year 5s have successfully completed their Young Leader course this week as well as having a fantastic time at their STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths) day. I know this course made many of them incredibly enthusiastic about these subjects, so it was very positive.
Whilst the Year 5s were out of class, the Year 6s took the opportunity to rehearse their parts in the end of year play (or audition for some whose parts haven't been chosen yet). I've thoroughly enjoyed watching them perform and I'm sure you will too!
On Friday afternoon we did art and looked at the graffiti artist Banksy. We discussed his controversial artwork, "The Clacton Pigeons", and edited it to change the message of the piece.
