New Grade 3-8 Reading and Math SOL Reports

Starting this spring along with their end-of-year report cards, parents/guardians will receive more detailed information regarding their student’s Standards of Learning (SOL) performance. The new Student Detail by Question (SDBQ) reports, provided by the Virginia Department of Education, will be received by parents of students who took a Grade 3-8 Reading or Mathematics SOL. The report will continue to provide an overall SOL Performance Level, which indicates if a student passed the test and remains the most important piece of information for parents to understand.

New to the report is a Vertical Scaled Score, which  is used to measure a student's progress from one SOL test to another. The report will also provide more detail about how a student performed on individual questions. Students who took an Expedited Retake for either the Reading or Mathematics SOL this spring will receive a report for both test attempts in a content area.

Performance on a Standards of Learning assessment is one indicator of a student’s progress in learning the content and skills represented in Virginia’s Standards of Learning. It should be used with all other information in understanding your student’s current academic performance. To learn more about the new Grade 3-8 Reading and Math SOL Reports, please review this VDOE resource and contact your student’s school with any questions.

Ms. Murphy's Changemakers collected snacks from the 5th grade students and were able to create and donate 30 snack bags to homeless families living at the Carpenter's Shelter. Thank you for all of your support!
