Hope you had a lovely Jubilee Weekend and thanks to all the businesses that got involved and decorated their shops, it was great to see!

Now WE ARE GOING BACK IN TIME! The Welwyn Garden City Vintage Festival is almost upon us, and we want you all to get involved, pick your favourite vintage era and let's turn the clock back in our town centre.

We encourage all businesses to go back in time from the 21st June ahead of the festival on the Saturday 25th and Sunday 26th June.

If you have any old photos of your shop please email them to marketing@welwyngarden.co.uk so we can promote on our socials.

Would you like to sponsor a film?

This year we are doing our sponsorship packages slightly differently to try and generate some additional income to fund this event and invest in future town centre events.

We are offering BID businesses to become a partner sponsorship to one of our 12 films along-side our main sponsors (non-BID businesses)
The partner sponsorship is £300 + VAT and this is ONLY available to BID paying businesses.

Our main sponsorship package to non-bid businesses in £800+ VAT, you can see the breakdown and more explanation in the attached. We do understand that some businesses will want to be the main sponsor so we will be offering this at a BID business discounted rate of £500+VAT - You will get x4 VIP tickets to your sponsored film if you were to take the main sponsorship.

We also have the opportunity to advertise on the big screen for just £175 + VAT

In regards to adverts these will need to be created by your marketing team or in house, we may be able to offer support and help with this if required.

WELWYN GARDEN CITY VINTAGE FESTIVAL - 25 AND 26 JUNE

Thousands of vintage fans from all over the UK, will be travelling to Welwyn Garden City in two weeks time, for one of the biggest FREE vintage music and dance weekend festival line ups, featuring over 80 world class artists, curated by Europe’s leading vintage entertainment provider JiveSwing and Wonderful Welwyn Garden City BID.

During the daytime, 3 Stages across WGC Town Centre, will feature some of Europe’s favourite Swing, Jazz, RnB and Rock Roll DJ’s and bands, many of whom have performed for the Queen, TV, Theatres around the globe. You’ll be able to hear swing era classics from Glenn Miller, Count Basie, Duke Ellington, Sinatra, Andrew Sisters to modern Electro Swing.

JiveSwing, as featured on BBC’s ‘Back in Time for Dinner’ and BBC’s ‘Wartime Farm’, will be offering free dance classes for children and adults on the JiveSwing Stage in Stonehills. The streets will be filled with Lindy Hop, Charleston, Jitterbug and Jive dancers from all over the UK and a few from abroad. Vintage and classic cars will populate stonehills, alongside vintage stalls, food stalls, craft beer tents and a children's area to ensure that there is something for all the family.
In addition to the free outdoor entertainment, festival goers can book studio workshops or evening concerts with live swing bands, plus Lindy Hop & Jive
dancers re-creating the atmosphere of the original 1940s dance halls.

The festival will conclude with JiveSwing’s FREE Vintage Tea Dance at The Howard Centre on Sunday, with a live swing band.
JiveSwing founders Joseph Sewell and Charlotte Middlemiss, from Welwyn Garden City, Hertfordshire, learnt their art from the original 1930’s USA dancers such as the late Frankie Manning, Norma Miller et al and travel the world to perform, teach and give lectures. They also curate events, work in schools and when not touring, run weekly classes in Hertfordshire & Essex, for absolute beginners with 3 left feet.

- Bring your tables out into the town
- Give away goodies

Gin and Jazz evening for Herts Young Homeless

Set in the wonderful gardens and function suite of The View in Welwyn, Herts Young Homeless will be hosting a Gin and Jazz Evening featuring live jazz music from the award-winning amateur Hertfordshire Big Band, a successful Big Band based in Welwyn Garden City.

The Evening will take place on Thursday 7th July 6pm-10pm. Tickets cost £29.50 and include two drinks, canapes, garden games and a chance to win Gin-spired prizes from the raffle! All the money raised from the evening goes directly to Herts Young Homeless. It will be a fantastic opportunity for local businesses who are yet to organise a works summer party, or members of the community to come together and have some fun whilst supporting a local charity.
