Annual Tree Planting in Fitche
______________________

It is that time of the year...July is fast approaching...The Annual Tree Planting Campaign in Fitche Town, held under the banner “Towards Green and Tidy Fitche”, brings together members of our communities, the Diaspora and friends of Fitche.  This year, the 4th edition, is scheduled for Sunday July 10.

Last year's event drew dignitaries such as the Czech Ambassador to Ethiopia and the African Union.  We hope this year's event to be even bigger and better.  If you happen to be in Ethiopia, mark your Calendar

Promoting Community Self-help
______________________

We try to use local resources and produce, as much as we can, for our community-run kitchen.  Our Feeding Centre serves 100 orphans and/or children whose parents are struggling to put food on the table.  We also support elderlies with no family, from the same kitchen. We are grateful to Fitche Town Municipal Administration for their continued support.

Visit by Diaspora
_______________________

We are grateful to one of FICDO's board members, award-winning poet and journalist Abera Lemma, who organised a trip to Fitche (our project site) for his diaspora friends.  Local hotelier Girum Atnafu looked after our guests (including children under FICDO's care and volunteers) numbering over 100.  The visit turned out to be an exciting day!  That is community spirit at its best.

New Book
_______________________

Adel Ben Harhara (https://www.adelbenharhara.com) has written an incredible book "To Have Nothing" where he talks about his exploits growing up in Addis Ababa (and later migrating to Yemen) as a Yemeni-Ethiopian whose father (a wealthy Yemeni) died and left him living on the streets fending for his life. Adel, who lives in Canada now, tells his personal story in a way that entertains, motivates and and inspires readers.

Adel will be donating the proceeds of his books to orphanages in both Yemen and Ethiopia to support children who are faced with growing up without parental love and guidance. We encourage all our supporters to order your copy from amazon.
Thank you!

Thank you and may God bless you abundantly for enabling us enable our communities!
