After our one worship service at 10:00 a.m. on June 5th, we hope you'll join us for our Church Picnic at the Scout Shelter in Kirkwood Park. We will be serving hot dogs, baked beans, potato salad, chips, water, and lemonade. Park by the water tower. Wear red, orange, or yellow for Pentecost!

Check Out Our New Online Giving Platform!
The Church has adopted a new online giving platform which will integrate our back office systems, improve the user experience and lower our fees. If you have not tried online giving, here is your chance. You can do a onetime gift or set up reoccurring payments and pay with ACH direct from your checking account, via credit card or using GooglePay.

What Are the Deacons Doing?
The Deacons would like to share with the congregation how they have been serving First Presbyterian Church of Kirkwood and the Kirkwood community in the past few months.
The Bereavement Committee has ushered at funeral and memorial services, as well as hosting receptions following these services.
The Community Care Committee hosted the Red Cross Blood Drive in April, which in turn, benefitted 87 people needing blood. They have continued to collect and deliver food donated by the congregation to Kirk Care on a weekly basis.
The Crisis Care Committee is always on standby to meet emergency needs of the Kirkwood community when requested.
The Homebound Committee has sent cards to homebound members several times throughout the year to remind members that we continue to think of them.
The Hospital Care Committee, while unable to visit folks in person, makes phone calls and sends cards to members recuperating.
We have been pleased to get to know our new Interim Associate Pastor, Linda Maconochie, who is our staff liaison. We have hosted guest speakers (via Zoom or in person) from Kirk Care, Lydia’s House, and the Mission Committee’s Afghan Family Partnering Ministry with 2 families.

 This Sunday we celebrate Pentecost, 50 days following Easter, and the many gifts of the Holy Spirit. The Chancel Choir will sing along with the Clarion Brass and timpani. Wear red to church and be ready to celebrate with wonderful music, scripture, and preaching.
Don’t forget that this Sunday is one service at 10:00 a.m. followed by the Church Picnic!

Mission Trip to Help Rebuild in Kentucky
Mission Committee members are busy arranging a mission trip to western Kentucky from October 30-November 5 to help rebuild after a catastrophic storm in 2021. You might not recall the specifics of the storm, as there have been too many disasters of all kinds. To refresh your memory, in December, 2020, a violent, long-track tornado moved through Western Kentucky, causing catastrophic damage and taking 57 lives. Residents are now in the rebuilding phase. This area is a 3-hour drive from St. Louis, which means it's convenient even if you can only come for part of the week. We will be working with Hopkins County Emergency Management and with Habitat for Humanity. They promise there will be plenty of work for all skill levels. If you're interested, just pencil in that week and watch for more details this summer.

Work Camp Mile BUY Mile Fundraiser!
We are hoping to receive support from our church and community to help sponsor the van expense (about $12,500 this year) with our *Mile Buy Mile* fundraiser. In July we will be taking off for our two week Work Camp trip to Grand Rapids, MI,
about 900 miles round trip.
We are asking you to sponsor a mile of the trip at $10 per mile, which will bring in $9,000, a huge chunk of our on the-road expense.

We have “rewards” for different increment of miles purchased:
- 5 miles ($50) will be rewarded with a public shout out in the next video made
- 10 miles ($100) will be rewarded with a letter and photo of the group from the trip
- 15 miles ($150) will be rewarded with an “I Support Work Camp” Keychain.
- 20 miles ($200) will be rewarded with a Zoom with Rob and a few students while on Work Camp
We will have a map displayed in Fellowship Hall and will mark out miles as they are bought and will update weekly!

Dear members of First Pres,
I sincerely thank you for the lovely reception following worship on Sunday, May 15. It was a wonderful opportunity to see many of you and get some much needed hugs. The encouragement and well wishes that were extended through words and written expression were touching and kind. A special thank you to the Hospitality Committee for providing the delicious cookies to take home. First Pres is an amazing church community and I look forward to seeing you on one of the many visits I will make in the future.

We are discussing The Day the World Came to Town by Jim DeFede This is a 2002 oral history of the small town of Gander, Newfoundland and Labrador, Canada in the wake of the September 11 attacks. Community Gospel Choir Concert
Free concert in Kirkwood Park on Sunday, June 12 at 5 p.m.
Bringing together singers from all backgrounds, the Community Gospel Choir seeks to build bridges that restore unity to “community.” Through the rich tradition of African-American spirituals and the energy of Gospel music, they deliver the messages of hope and joy found in the Good News. The choir was formed in the summer of 2007 and has grown to more than 60 members. It has become recognized as one of the premier gospel choirs in the region.

Men's Bible Study

Feeding the Homeless
St. Patrick’s Center provides opportunities for self-sufficiency and dignity to people who are homeless or at risk of becoming homeless. Thanks to you, First Pres members cooked and donated over 300 breakfast casseroles to St. Patrick’s Center last year!

Little Free Pantry Donations Needed!
Our Little Pantry is a part of the solution for those with food insecurities. Our Little Pantry
is located near the Jefferson Avenue entrance of the church. Whether there is a need for
food or a need to give, our Little Pantry helps feed neighbors, and nourishes all of us.
Please give what you ‘can’ (we especially need canned meals/meats, fruit, and veggies). Thank you!
