The 2022 Hurricane Season began June 1, and now is the time for residents to prepare before a disaster or crisis impacts our community. Predictions are that this could be another above-normal season. Officials encourage citizens and businesses to assemble essential items including water, non-perishable foods, medicines, flash lights, personal documents, batteries, charging stations, generators and exit plans so they can weather any storm.
The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) forecasts a likely range of 14 to 21 named storms (winds of 39 mph or higher), of which six to 10 could become hurricanes (winds of 74 mph or higher), including three to six major hurricanes (Category 3, 4 or 5, with winds of 111 mph or higher).
