Joint Letter to Ministers: Firearms Controls and Violence Against Women

CFUW National President, Kathryn Wilkinson, is proud to join other feminist leaders in a letter on firearms controls as they relate to violence against women in Canada. The letter, initiated by the National Association of Women and the Law (NAWL) and now endorsed by 18 organizations, was sent to the Honourable Marco Mendicino, P.C., M.P., Minister of Public Safety and the Honourable Marci Ien, P.C., M.P., Minister for Women and Gender Equality and Youth on May 16.

LTC & Elder Rights CFUW National Study Group Meeting

This meeting on Wednesday, June 8 at 1pm ET will be a review of the Elder Action Days’ events of April 27 and May 4 and a summary of our year together, the work we have achieved and where we hope to go in the next year.
Let’s talk about the possible collective actions we could take advocating for independent Seniors’ Advocates in every province and collectively supporting the UN Convention on the Rights of Older Persons with the Canadian Government.

Requesting all Clubs to Register Information on their Scholarships, Community and International Donations
In preparation for the annual tally of the total amount of scholarships, fellowships, awards, community and international outreach donations provided by Clubs and the Charitable Trust, we are asking you to input your Club's total scholarships and donations made between January 1, 2021 and December 31, 2021 on the cfuwmembership.org website by June 10th, 2022.

Club Leadership 101: An Introduction to Being a Club President or Leader
|
|
|
If you are a NEW Club President or Leader, then this webinar is for you. It will be offered twice: Tuesday, June 21st at 6:30 pm ET and again on Saturday, June 25th at noon ET.

Barbara MacLellan will be the primary moderator. Barb MacLellan (B.A. English and M.A. Communications) has been very active in leadership positions within CFUW and is currently a member of several National Board Committees; she is also Communications Chair for CFUW North Vancouver. For over 17 years she worked as a program manager with North Shore Community Resources in North Vancouver, an information and volunteer centre. In that position she provided support and training to community organizations and their boards. She was a school trustee in North Vancouver for nine years and was Chair of their board for two years. Barb has served on a number of boards of charities and non-profits over the years. Heather Lewis, PhD, VP Ontario and Chair of the National Governance Committee, will provide assistance. Heather Oxman, well-known to many of you, will handle the technical side of the event. The owner of Bold Change Coaching, she has been an active leader in CFUW, including currently serving as a member of several National Board Committees.

For 65 years, the Canadian Federation of University Women Aurora/Newmarket has shown its commitment to education. We invite you to attend our Home & Garden Tour on June 18, 2022. The event is our premier fundraising initiative in support of scholarships for deserving young women in the local community.
This event will feature self-guided tours of selected homes and gardens in Aurora, Newmarket, and Stouffville. We have 9 stops on the tour, from a century home to a mid-century bungalow. And glorious gardens and outdoor living spaces that will inspire our guests.
