😔 The world is so heavy right now. From the pressures of rising living costs to the racially motivated hate crime shooting in Buffalo, New York that killed 10 people, it has taken labor to experience joy in the midst of so much stress and pain.
😡 It’s infuriating that we live in a nation where this still happens regularly. It breaks our heart that there will forever be a void left by the loss of the victims - an activist, retired police officer, food pantry operator, and caretakers - due to hatred rooted in the color of their skin. Skin that they were born in.
🙏🏾 We hope each one of them rests in peace. We send love, comfort, and healing to their families and loved ones as they mourn their tragic loss.
🌎 What we are reminded of is that ideologies aren’t just beliefs that have no affect on the people around them. They impact every aspect of our lives from education, healthcare, and policy to where we live, work, and play. They also influence how we are able to exist and show up in all of the spaces we inhabit.
📚 This is why it’s necessary to do the work to understand systemic racism, including how it’s weaved into every aspect of our lives.
⚒️ Nerdy Diva is here to do the work of deconstructing bias in the institutions, practices, and mindsets that deem people less than human, less worthy, less deserving of protection and respect because of who they are or what they look like.
🤝 Creating equitable and inclusive systems and services is the mission we proudly work towards each and every day, while offering opportunities for underrepresented people to be and show up as they truly are.
