MIKE'S BEER BEAT
New or notable, classic or quaffable, Mike is pouring a glass of it.

Beer: Enjoy By 07.04.22 Tangerine & Pineapple IPA
Style: IPA
ABV: 9%
Brewer: Stone Brewing

Mike Sez: You know how bands such as the Grateful Dead and Pearl Jam have made a good business out of releasing their own bootleg-like live concert recordings? Well, Stone Brewing of Escondido, California, has created a similar product line with its Enjoy By IPAs, which are regularly released with a date by which it’s recommended you drink it. Historically, the brewery has released a special one for July 4th and that’s the case again this year.

This zesty double IPA is made with real tangerine and pineapple, so it’s super fruity and citrusy, but not too sweet. The dank double IPA is also hazy, though it’s not marketed as such.

Conclusion: The Enjoy By 07.04.22 Double IPA will satisfy hazy IPA lovers and other hopheads looking to up the booze content from a the typical IPA. It has a hearty aftertaste, which will linger on the taste buds. If you are looking for a good tune to accompany this beer, I’d recommend “The Driver,” from the just-released Drive-By Truckers album, Welcome 2 Club XIII. That song has a vibe that sticks in your head, too.

PLAYLIST: I WANT MY MTV!
Jim took over the Book Nook this week to discuss a cool read: I Want My MTV: The Uncensored Story of the Music Video Revolution, written by Rob Tannenbaum and Craig Marks. It's chock full of anecdotes and juicy quotes and it put us in the mood for some back-in-the-day tunes (that had videos, of course).

So we went trawling on the streamings and reeled in this whooper of a playlist. If you can't satisfy your MTV jones with this, you might need some professional help. Enjoy!
