SUBMISSIONS ARE NOW OPEN FOR THE 2022 FESTIVAL

We look forward to seeing you in person and online for the Games for Change Asia-Pacific Festival 2022, part of Melbourne International Games Week. Please forward this email to anybody you know who might be interested.

Here is the structure of the three day event:

Tuesday October 4th 2022: 11am-5pm AEDT

100% online including regional showcases from India, Hong Kong, Malaysia and more, games showcase and research showcase.

Wednesday October 5th 2022: 11am-5pm AEDT

100% live from ACMI Melbourne with limited tickets available (160) featuring hour long panel sessions that take a deeper dive into the use of games for education and training, health and social change (also broadcast free on hopin.)

Thursday October 6th: 11am-5pm AEDT

PRESENTER SUBMISSIONS CLOSE ON JULY 17TH 2022

Most of these submissions will be required to pre-record a presentation that will shown on day one of the conference which is 100% virtual. Please ensure each presenter completes this form with their details. Please email any enquiries to the wonderful Viktor - submissions@g4capac.org.

Please note the fast approaching deadline for abstract submissions - we need to get this organised early so we can have hard copies ready for the festival. For nearly two decades, the Games for Change Festival has been a destination for developers, educators, researchers, students, and other
game-changers who want to make an impact through video games or immersive media. From
July 13 – 14, join us live in person in NYC at the Times Center and Microsoft for two days of curated talks, panels, and arcades with built-in networking opportunities throughout. Then, from July 15 – 16, catch our free online program for another two days of fresh content and talks to stream. Whether you’re new here or you’ve been a part of the G4C community for 19 years, you belong here.

The first volume of the Games for Change Asia-Pacific Journal is now available to download for free or purchase for your e-book reader or bookshelf. The journal showcases insights from experienced and emerging game-based educators, enthusiasts and researchers who, like us, note the potential of games in dealing with some of the world’s wicked problems.

The journal has been produced with the wonderful support of ETC Press at Carnegie Mellon University, and is free to download in PDF format, or purchase as an ebook or hard copy (just $21AUD).

JOURNAL SPOTLIGHT

Reminding us that not all games are played on computers, Dan Epstein outlines the deployment of a collectable card game Vaxcards to address a topical theme at the time of writing – vaccine hesitancy. Epstein’s paper reports on the experiences of Year Seven school stakeholders students who used Vaxcards as part of a school vaccination program.

As you may have heard, Games for Change is excited to present our first hybrid festival this summer, taking place online and returning in-person to New York City! The 19th annual Games for Change Festival will take place July 12 - 15, now with FOUR days of completely unique programming offered between in-person and online engagements. We look forward to the continued participation of thousands from our international community whilst we return to our roots in NYC!
