A Few Thoughts

Those who practice interspirituality may find that more than one religious symbol represents their belief system. Mine are the Cross, the Pentacle, Aum, the Yin/yan, and the Dharma Wheel. What does this mean? Well, for me it means that my spiritual path is influenced by the teachings of Jesus, the acknowledgment of magick and reverence for nature, the Vedic texts, the way of the Tao, and the teachings of the Buddha. Yet, while these religious perspectives all resonate within me as one, so too do those perspectives represented by other symbols, some of which are not on the sticker above. For instance, I often wear a Mjölnir, or Thor's Hammer, representing my Nordic heritage and the mythology of the Norse Eddas. My interspirituality goes beyond ecumenism, interfaith, or tolerance. From the time I was a child, I perceived an interconnection with All That Is. For years I tried to fit into one religious context or the other. but I found God/dess to be greater than any one path. A seminary education, a Masters in Divinity, and the introduction to Process Theology only reinforced my conviction that God/dess is greater than any one set of teachings can encompass. To me, God is One and God(s) are many. God/dess is at the same time male and female, non-dual, nonbinary, sexual and asexual. I believe that we are made in God's image because God is us and God is our home. My education provided for me the knowledge that I am not alone.

Do you have more than one symbol? What are they? What resonates with you?
