<<First Name>>, please pray for Ukraine!

These are some of my thoughts as the war has now passed 100 days. Follow my Facebook for more frequent updates. You can also find this same post there with more photos.

100 Days of War

Yesterday marked the 100th day of Russia’s war against Ukraine. It’s heartbreaking to imagine:

  • 100 days of tens of thousands of murdered civilians, including confirmed hundreds (likely thousands) of children.
  • 100 days of mothers raped in front of their children and daughters and sons raped—sometimes to death—in front of their parents.
  • 100 days of theft and marauding and pillaging.
  • 100 days of satanic Russian lies and propaganda (sadly leaking into western media on both the “left” and “right” as well).

So how did I “celebrate” day 100 of Russia’s war of terror? By remembering that:

  • Christ is the only true King!
  • His victory is inevitable!
  • Putin’s time will soon be at an end—judging from the reports on his health, very soon! I continue to pray Psalm 58 for him and wait for that “foot bath”…
  • The justice awaiting every Russian soldier causing all the pain and suffering will be complete and eternal (unless a miracle of brokenness and repentance happens, in which case justice will also be complete and eternal through Christ)!
  • That every time satan rages, thinking he’s winning, he only brings own defeat closer!

As reminders of these truths from the Lord, today I had the joy of taking part in the following:

  • We launched the new City to City Ukraine Online Incubator for Urban Church Planters (pictured above). We had 14 church planters, all seeking to “strike while the iron is hot” to meet the need for hope in so many Ukrainians now. Half are still in Ukraine and half are now planting across Europe and beyond in: Germany, Austria, Israel, Netherlands and Greece. Thanks to Satan and his pawn, Putin, for beginning a revival in the cities of Ukraine, Europe and Beyond!
  • Today I got to lead the 18th person that I know of in receiving the good news of the Gospel! Pray for Ivan to be rooted in grace. We’re getting close to one new believer in Christ every 5 days now! May God increase the harvest even more!
  • I lead our Friday night Bible fellowship with more participants (25+) than ever. More than half are refugees that have temporarily/permanently relocated to Svitlovodsk and many of the new believers are among them, as well as some who are not believers—yet! We’re also running a new believers’ class on Wednesdays (pictured below left).
  • Over just the last month, we were able to minister to nearly 1,700 refugees in our city by providing both physical and spiritual nourishment (one picture below right and more on my Facebook post). The needs keep increasing so please keep praying and giving! You can do so using the button at the end of this update.

As mentioned, the Psalms are given to us to know how to pray. When things are tranquil around, some of the Psalmist’s requests can seem jarring. But over the last 100 days, we in Ukraine have learned what all those Psalms are there for! Join us in praying Psalm 58 (57 in Russian) for Putin and all the other wicked rulers causing so much suffering to so many in Ukraine.

Psalm 58 (NLT)

Justice—do you rulers know the meaning of the word?

Do you judge the people fairly?

No! You plot injustice in your hearts.

You spread violence throughout the land.

These wicked people are born sinners;

even from birth they have lied and gone their own way.

They spit venom like deadly snakes;

they are like cobras that refuse to listen,

ignoring the tunes of the snake charmers,

no matter how skillfully they play.

Break off their fangs, O God!

Smash the jaws of these lions, O Lord!

May they disappear like water into thirsty ground.

Make their weapons useless in their hands.

May they be like snails that dissolve into slime,

like a stillborn child who will never see the sun.

God will sweep them away, both young and old,

faster than a pot heats over burning thorns.

The godly will rejoice when they see injustice avenged.

They will wash their feet in the blood of the wicked.

Then at last everyone will say,

“There truly is a reward for those who live for God;

surely there is a God who judges justly here on earth.”
