Garage Sale fee correction
Thank-you from Lucia
Vet Fest 3K/5K route update

It’s Garage Sale Time! – Almost
Time to go through the closets, organize the cupboards and clean out the garage.  The McNary Estates Garage Sale is scheduled for Saturday, August 20, 8:00am-4:00pm!  Mark the date on your calendar -- will be here before you know it!  The registration fee for this year’s garage sale has increased to $25.00 to cover rising costs.  A registration form is below, at this LINK, and additional forms will be available at the clubhouse and by the front door at 519 Snead Dr. N.
There will once again be collection points on McNary Estates Drive and at the McClure gate for food and cash donations for Marion Polk Food Share.  The McNary Ladies Club will staff the food collection sites and safety and security for the sale will be provided by the Keizer Fire and Police departments.
Dear McNary Neighbors,

Thank you so much for your support in our April Geranium Sale by buying Zonal Geraniums,  Ivy Geranium Baskets, White Marguerite Daisy Plants, White Bacopa or Gift Certificates to Egan Gardens.  Your response is very much appreciated.  You helped us achieve our highest total, yet.  Thank you for supporting the cause to raise money for scholarships to help women complete their education.  I hope you’re enjoying your flowers and baskets.  Look for news of our sale, in March or April, next year.  Thank you all so much.

Sincerely,

Lucia Norris

Vets Fest 5K Run and 3K Walk Details
By Mark Piercy, McNary Estates Resident and Volunteer

EDITORIAL NOTE (With our June issue we missed the last part of this article which has the routes):

The Vets fest 5K Run and 3K Walk are almost upon us! They are taking place Saturday morning, July 2, with both the run and walk starting at 900 a.m. This is your last article before the event takes place. The event is brought to us by helporegonveterans.org with proceeds benefitting homeless veterans. Both start by the bridge on McNary Estates Dr by the Golf Club and finish on the grass by the Golf Club’s practice green. The 5K Run is equivalent to 3.1 miles. The 3K Walk is equivalent to 1.86 miles. The fastest runners may complete the 3.1 miles in as little as 16-18 minutes. If you are out and about in your car, please follow the directions of the course volunteers and be kind. They are your neighbors who have volunteered to help with the event. Thank you in advance for your cooperation. Here are a few details residents should keep in mind.
1: Residents should be prepared for some extra traffic and pedestrian congestion on McNary Estates Drive by the McNary Golf Club. This congestion may last from about 8:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. You can avoid this by using the west gated entrance at McClure St. Plan accordingly if you need to leave or return to the neighborhood during these 2 hours.
2: There will be a few brief street closures and restricted turns on McNary streets for 2 or 3 minutes at a time once the run and walk get underway to allow for safe passage of the participants. You may be directed by volunteers to use the McClure St gated exit or wait a couple of minutes to avoid oncoming runners and walkers. The main delay will be a closure of McNary Estates Dr by the golf club for 15 minutes from about 8:55 a.m. to about 9:10 a.m. to get the run and walk started. Again, using the west gated entrance at McClure St is probably your best option.
3: If possible, for just two hours from 8:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m., please do not park in the street along McNary Estates Dr from the golf club out to Crampton Dr, the 6000 block of Crampton Dr, 800 block of Player Dr, or on Whitworth Dr. This is the most congested area of the run and walk and allows for better sight lines and safer management of the runners and cars by the volunteers.
For most of you the event will come and go without you realizing it ever took place. The delays you might encounter will be very minor. I will drop by some homes to ask permission to put a temporary arrow sign or mile marker sign in your grass next to the sidewalk the morning of the race. I will pick these up promptly after the event. The organizers are on the hook for $25 cash prizes for the male and female who break the course records so please come out at 9:00 a.m. and cheer them on to a new record!
