SECOND NOTICE – AGM – 23 JUNE 2022
 
Notice is hereby given of the Annual General Meeting of
the United Church, Hermanus, to take place on
Thursday, 23 June 2022 at 17:30.
 
At our AGM on 23 June 2022 we have the task of electing a Board as well as a Chairperson – Deputy Chairperson – Treasurer – Secretary. The Constitution asks that we choose between a minimum of 7 and a maximum of 12 members. Nominees need to have been a member for 12 months. The elected Board members must represent all of us and make decisions that support the work of God here in Hermanus.
 
Please consider prayerfully those you believe to be up to this task and responsibility. Nomination documents are available by CLICKING THE LINK BELOW or in the office.
 
All nomination forms need to be handed in at the church office, for attention Dudley Meyer, by no later than Wednesday, 15 June 2022.
 
Our current Board members are listed below, and in order for them to serve for a nother term they each also need to be re-nominated.
Should you wish to nominate any of these people you will need to complete a new nomination form.

NB: ALL NOMINATIONS TO BE HANDED IN AT THE OFFICE NO LATER THAN WEDNESDAY, 15 JUNE 2022.
PLEASE REMEMBER THAT ALL BOARD MEMBERS - NEW & EXISTING -  NEED TO BE RE-NOMINATED AT THIS STAGE.
We have had some feedback that people would prefer our online service to be available on a Sunday.

In order for that to happen the best option at this time is to send out the live service in time for the following Sunday. That means that the previous Sunday's service will be available with the church notices of the following Sunday. (For the Online Service click on the link lower down in the bulletin)

We trust that this arrangement will be acceptable to everyone.

BOOK OF THE MONTH
Karla Faye Tucker: Set Free 
- Linda Strom (TUC)
Karla was the first woman executed in Texas, in over 100 years. Despite many petitions and demonstrations for a story of execution. She had been imprisoned for 14 years on Death Row and was converted to Christianity while in prison.

This is her story as told by Linda Strom and contains a lot of her actual words and very personal information including her falling in love and marriage on Death Row.
It is not a depressing book at all, but her spiritual journey and evangelism on Death Row is inspiring. A very good read!

Lessons on Failure, Repentance and Redemption

Scripture: 2 Samuel 12:1-13, Nathan Confronts David
David was the greatest king Israel ever had, but he was not without his FAIL moments. The biggest was when he had Uriah killed so that he could take his wife Bathsheba as his own. God sent the prophet Nathan to confront David and bring him to repentance.  
 
Objective: Children will learn that we need to be humble and listen when someone shows us a mistake we have made.

Memory Verse: “The Lord takes good care of all those who fall.  He lifts up all those who feel helpless.” Psalm 145:14 (NIrV)
