HOLY RESURRECTION PARISH

Parish Plan - Prayer

Dear Fellow Parishioners,
Glory to Jesus Christ!

During this time of the Great Feast of Pentecost it is most fitting to bring to your attention some of the opportunities for prayer that are continually happening at our parish. The Parish Pastoral Council prays that these opportunities will help every member of our parish, and those our parish reaches, further strengthen our knowledge of The Living Triune God, that we may come to love and serve Him all the more.

Continual Opportunities:
Daily Scripture Readings: The Epistle and Gospel Readings for every day of the week are available in the parish bulletin or calendar. Daily reading of the Holy Scripture is important for all of us. "One does not live by bread alone, but by every word that comes forth from the mouth of God."  (Matthew 4:4)

Rosary: The Rosary is prayed after every Sunday Divine Liturgy. Please join this dedicated group of parishioners in asking Our Blessed Mother's powerful intercession for our parish, our country and our world.

Moleben (Prayer) to Saint Charbel: The Moleben to Saint Charbel is being prayed after every Wednesday evening Divine Liturgy. Those present are invited to be blessed with Holy Oil from the tomb of Saint Charbel. These prayers and this blessing are especially for the physically ill, but all are welcome. We are all in need of healing from our Heavenly Father, the Physician of our souls and bodies.

Semi-Continual Opportunities:
Akathist for priests (women only): The "Myrrh Bearing Women" meet on the third Saturday of every month, at 10:00 AM, to pray for the priests of our Eparchy. This is a beautiful offering, on the part of these beautiful women, of spiritual support for our priests.  For more information, contact Sarah McNeil.

Moleben to The Theotokos (Mother of God): After Divine Liturgy, during the months of May and October, which are dedicated to Our Mother, our parish prays a short Moleben to the Mother of God.  The prayers ask for her intercession and protection.  Prayer is a most effective weapon against the Devil and he fears our Mother, because of her humility and obedience to our Lord. Please pray with us

Psalms: Last Philip's Fast, in preparation for the Nativity of Christ, and all the way through to the Epiphany we prayed all 150 Psalms! The schedule for praying through the psalms at home will be available again this year and there will be several meetings during its duration. The meetings are for those who wish to share with each other what The Lord has revealed to them through prayer and time spent with Him. Keep an eye out for the full details when we get nearer to the start of the Philip's Fast (November 15)

May Our Lord Jesus Christ, The Gardener of our souls, inspire us to participate in  prayer within our community, as well as personally, to discern His Will for our lives and help each other to live it out!

Glory to Jesus Christ! Glory to Him Forever!

Your Brother in Christ,
Anthony Weaver
