Keep Housing in Budget Reconciliation - 6/7 Call In & Twitterstorm

Work with MAHC and the NLIHC to get investments in housing. Tue, Jun 7 is national call-in day and Twitterstorm to urge Congress to have any reconciliation package include affordable housing investments. This includes Maine funding: 1,000 vouchers; $45.6 million for Maine (Housing Trust Fund) to build/preserve homes.

Email, tweet, and call your representatives on June 7 and urge them to support targeted investments in rental assistance, public housing, and the national Housing Trust Fund in any reconciliation package! Use our call-in script and advocacy toolkit to help create your own message to Congress.

MaineHousing Virtual QAP Hearing - 6/7, 9 am

MAHC and many members testified at the 5/17 hearing and are pleased that MaineHousing has continued the opportunity for input and collaboration on the QAP with a follow up virtual hearing on Tue, June 7, at 9:00 am. (MAHC has moved our member's meeting to avoid a conflict at this time.) The proposed rules and rule-making notices are here. More details on participation coming soon. Feel free to email MAHC with comments on the QAP as well.

Remaining ERA & Need Study

New NLIHC report, Remaining ERA: Reallocation and Need. Summarizes ERA spending trends, projects when state and large local grantees may exhaust their ERA1 and ERA2 funds, and estimates the amount of funding the U.S. Department of the Treasury (Treasury) could reallocate from slow-spending to fast-spending grantees.

Your Input Needed - MAHC Policy Priority Survey

MAHC is gathering input from members and other stakeholders on statewide policy positions that will have the most impact increasing the availability of affordable homes in Maine. MAHC's board will use this information to set its annual advocacy and policy priorities. Please take this 2-question survey. Your input matters.

MaineHousing Revised Multi-family Mortgage Loans Rule Hearing - 6/14, 9:30 am

Adds additional New Construction and Rehabilitation Requirement for Developments Financed with Project Labor Agreement Funds. Meet Laura Mitchell, new Director of MAHC

Over the next few months in my new role as MAHC Director I look forward to meeting many of you in person or via Zoom. I want to understand your business challenges and how MAHC can support Maine in meeting it's need for 1,000 new units of quality, affordable housing a year.
