Acme Connector Trail

Progress continues on the 1.8 mile Acme Connector Trail (ACT), serving as the southernmost segment of the Nakwema Trailway. Construction has largely been focused at Acme Creek and the wetland areas on the east side of the project. With significant advancements in this area, construction is returning to the corridor between Mount Hope Road and Bunker Hill Road. Upon completion, the ACT will connect the current TART Trail terminus at Bunker Hill Road to the intersection of M-72 and US-31 in Acme. Stay up to date on trail happenings here.

TOMTC ANNUAL MEETING

Top of Michigan Trails hosted their annual meeting and event the last week of June and it was a huge hit with over 200 people in attendance to enjoy live music, great food and a celebration of community trails. The event was a celebration of the past year's work including the update of the updated outdoor space and new Founder's Terrace at the Top of Michigan Trail Council's Packy Offield Trail Center. Check it out!

TART Trails and Top of Michigan Trails Council staff and volunteers will be on hand to talk trails at the Evening on River Street events in Elk Rapids this summer. Activities start at 6 p.m. and go until 9 p.m. The event features lots of food from local restaurants, kid’s activities, and live music. Hope to see you there.

The Nakwema team had a blast at Nature Fest '22 hosted by Green Elk Rapids last month. We celebrated the opportunity to connect with visitors and residents about future trail plans. Green ER gathered together an impressive line up of green-minded individuals, organizations and community members excited about a more sustainable future. Many thanks for hosting and the invitation to join!

Welcome Isabel Foundation to the Founders Circle! The north is more than a place, it’s access to the land, the water, and the agriculture. We live here for those connections, and people visit here to ground themselves. The Nakwema Trailway will bridge our history to our present, and to future generations. We are incredibly grateful for the Isabel Foundation and their investment in our region, our identity, and our people!
