Church Around the Table

We are using materials from Sanctified Art for our 5 month Church Around the Table (CATT) worship services this year. Faces of Our Faith tell the stories of ordinary people of faith who do what they can with what they have to make a difference.

We begin this Sunday with the story of Mahlah, Noah, Hoglah, Milcah and Tirzah, the daughters of Zelophehad who courageously stepped forward, speaking up for justice for themselves and others.

As we journey with these varied characters in the coming months,
may they remind us that we all play a role in shaping God's story of redemption and grace.
May they awaken us to the faces of our faith in our world today.
May they encourage us to know that no action is ever too small to make a difference.

Church Around the Table (CATT)

THIS SUNDAY, June 12 we will NOT worship together in our building or on zoom, but will meet in backyards and around tables together. See 6/1/22 email from Kate with details.

Worship materials will be sent out on sharing the Monday following our CATT Sundays for those who were unable to attend.

ANNOUNCEMENTS AT UMC :

Come plant with the Western Pennsylvania Conservancy garden on the corner of College and University this Saturday morning, June 11. Contact Kris Charles if you plan to help.

Ten Thousand Villages outdoor summer Village Fair series. The second Saturdays of June, July, and August from 1-5 feature local food, musicians, and artists. This Saturday June 11 we will have food from Taproot Kitchen and Sweet Temptations, music by Eric Ian Farmer from 3-5 and the artists include our own Leah Lumeya, whose beautiful works from Congo will be available for purchase.

Ethiopian Food: Etayehu Zenebe will have her food truck at the UMC parking lot on Fridays from 4:30-6:30. Come take home some of her amazing creations!

Advocate for prisoners to have outdoor access! A group from University Baptist and Brethren are working to make outdoor space available to those at the Centre County Correctional Facility (CCCF). Want to join them? For more information, contact Cindy Carpenter HERE.

MCC is in need of material resources: MCC is resuming shipments of material resources to Ukraine, needing comforters, soap and towels as well as dignity, hygiene, infant care, relief, school and sewing kits. Go to mcc.org/kits for information on needed supplies and drop-off locations.

Seeing the world move from one crisis to another invariably breaks our hearts. Yet, a heart can break apart or break open.

Quaker educator and activist Parker Palmer writes,

"The brittle heart breaks apart into a thousand shards, and takes us down as it explodes. But the supple heart breaks open and grows into greater capacity for the many forms of love. Only the supple heart can hold suffering in a way that opens to new life."
