Multicultural Announcement

LGBTQ+ Pride Month is celebrated throughout June to commemorate the 1967 Stonewall Riots in Manhattan, NY. Brenda Howard, known as the “Mother of Pride,” coordinated the first LGBT Pride march as well as sparked the idea for a week of events around Pride Day. These events then developed into the annual LGBTQ celebrations held every June. CHOP celebrates employee diversity year-round, so LGBTQ+ Pride and the Office of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion are observing LGBTQ+ Pride Month in a variety of ways.
June is also Immigrant Heritage Month. This observation is a great time to explore your own heritage and celebrate the shared diversity that makes America so unique. Find an event near you to take part of this celebration.
You can also check out some local events happening in and around the city to celebrate Juneteenth/Emancipation Day (6/19). Other observances in June are Native American Citizenship Day (6/15), and National Indigenous Peoples Day (6/21).

Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Mentorship Pipeline

|
Deadline: Friday, June 17

We invite you to apply for an exciting new opportunity for a funded and mentored research project and educational curriculum focused on DEI and health equity. Four fellows or post-docs will be selected to participate.
Through this program, you would receive up to $5,000 in funding for a one-year research, quality improvement, or curriculum development project with a DEI/health equity focus. You must select a mentor for your project, who may be a faculty member in any division of the Department of Pediatrics with experience in DEI work. We invite you to tackle big problems and create sustainable change, but please also consider feasibility in the one-year timeline. Projects will be presented at an internal CHOP event, and we will also encourage and fund you to present at a national conference of your choosing.
An educational curriculum will be available to selected fellows.
Please access the application below and send it to Ashley Magnatta by June 17, 2022.
