As we anticipate warm weather and new students and families arriving
to campus, the Career Center staff wanted to share key summer
updates about our programs and services:

Summer Hours & Summer Welcome

The MU Career Center is open 9:00 AM-4:00 PM each weekday during Summer Session (June 6 - July 29). Students can drop-in during those hours or make an appointment to speak with a Career Specialist. We are available to help students in-person or online via Zoom. Just visit our Connect with Us web page for more details!

During Summer Welcome, incoming students and family members can speak with a Career Center staff member at the Mizzou Fair or visit our office on Day 2 of their campus visit. Representatives of Jumpstart will also be present at the Mizzou Fair if students would like to learn more about community service work study positions.

We also encourage new students to view our New to Mizzou web page full of helpful advice and resources for commonly asked questions.

Hire a Tiger!

Students who have qualified for Federal Work-Study are on the prowl for experiences to work at Mizzou. Do you have opportunities in your department where a student could enhance your communication efforts, support research projects, or contribute to the coordination of a program? Have you been considering how students’ perspectives could be of so much value when your services and programs are reaching their peers? It might be time to hire a Tiger!

The student’s pay is funded by the Work-Study Program up to the amount the student is offered for their Federal Work-Study award. For more details, workstudy.missouri.edu/employment. Contact Amanda Purchase Roberts, workstudy@missouri.edu, if you are interested! New students are already looking for opportunities and returning students will have access to our Work-Study Employment System in mid-June.

Not all students who want to work qualify for Federal Work-Study; however, they need the financial support of a job and want the ability to gain skills for the future. Connect with your Human Resources contact to consider opportunities to hire students.

The MU Career Center can answer your questions about promoting jobs on HireMizzouTigers.com powered by Handshake to get your positions in front of our students. Students are looking for employment throughout the year; however, students will receive communication to connect with Handshake in mid-July.

Now Hiring: Career Specialists for Fall

The MU Career Center is looking to hire freshmen and sophomores seeing employment on campus who would enjoy helping their fellow Mizzou students! The Career Specialist position involves interacting with Career Center customers and developing the skills needed to assist them in major/career exploration, job search, and more. No prior experience is necessary – we provide the (paid!) training.

Career Specialists typically work 7-12 hours per week with additional hours available via team and project work. This opportunity allows students to truly help others while also cultivating their own knowledge on majors, careers, and other transferable skills — all while getting paid! The position is available to both work study eligible and non-eligible students. Students can learn more about the Career Specialist position on Handshake.
