Summer Programs and Camps

Do you want your child or teen to be enrolled in a summer program? It's that time of year again! Registration for summer programs and camps have started. Slots will fill up quickly. Here are a few options for children and youth with disabilities this summer.

There is a website called "very special camps", https://www.veryspecialcamps.com.  It provides a listing by state of camps throughout the country that are geared to specific needs, from bedwetting to autism to childhood cancer.  There are a number of camps listed there that are not terribly far from Alexandria (Falls Church, for example).

The Jewish Community Center in Fairfax often offers an inclusive day camp, Camp Achva, https://www.thej.org.

The Auburn School (for kids with Asperger's) offers Camp Aristotle, https://theauburnschool.org/summerprograms.

There are several programs identified at Therapeutic Recreation Center:

The Pozez Jewish Community Center of Northern Virginia is already offering summer 2022 camp registration for children and teens with disabilities. https://www.thej.org/camps/camp-achva/.  Questions may be directed to CampAchva@thej.org, (703) 532-3092.
Special Education Advisory Committee (SEAC) Meeting

SEAC provides advice and policy guidance concerning students with disabilities to members of the Alexandria City School Board through the Division superintendent.

There are no additional SEAC meetings during the 2021-2022 school year. For additional details about the committee, please contact
