Don't miss out on Pension Credit worth up to £3,300-a-year
Department of Work and Pensions (DWP) are urging pensioners to claim their pension credit.
The call comes as new figures show many could be missing out on more than £3,300 a year at a time when the cost of living is soaring.
You can claim the Pension Credit online at Pension Credit or by calling 0800 99 1234. You can also use the online Pension Credit calculator to check if you’re likely to be eligible and get an estimate of what you may receive.
Having savings, a pension or owning a home are not necessarily barriers to receiving Pension Credit.
Even a small award can also provide access to a wide range of other benefits such as help with housing costs, council tax or heating bills. For those over 75, this includes a free TV licence.
If you haven’t yet received the £150 Utility Energy Rebate available to households in council tax bands A-D as part of the government’s initiative to help households with rising energy costs, please get in touch.
We’ve contacted households that don’t pay their council tax by direct debit, or if we’ve not been able to exactly match payment information, so if you’ve received a letter from us, it’s not a scam and we need your details so we can pay you.
Please get back to us as soon as possible so we can pay you
Back in May 2021, we were given the right under emergency communication measures to use your email address to send you urgent information about Covid and the pandemic.
Now that we’re moving into a new phase of learning to live with COVID-19, we’ll be changing the focus of these emails. They are likely to include less COVID-19 news and guidance and more in the way of general information about Cornwall Council services that we think you’ll find useful.
We will, of course, continue to keep you updated on any further COVID-19 developments, as well.
If you no longer want to receive these emails with helpful information about Cornwall and the services we provide, please click the link below to unsubscribe.
We’re sending a message of recognition, appreciation and support to all Cornwall’s unpaid carers this Carers Week (6-12 June).
Cornwall Council and NHS Kernow Clinical Commissioning Group are saying thank you to all of Cornwall’s unpaid carers who go above and beyond every day, giving love, care and support to others.
The Department for Transport has confirmed funding of over £78 million for a new road, with green credentials, to link St Austell to the A30.
The 3.9-mile single carriageway road, with new junctions to provide local access, will link the A391 at Carluddon with the A30 at Victoria, supporting employment, housing, and regeneration in the area. It will run from the Singlerose Roundabout south of Stenalees, bypassing to the west of Roche to link to the A30 via the Victoria junction.
New temporary opening hours for three minor injury units
The local NHS is advising residents that from 16 June the opening hours of the minor injury units (MIUs) in Liskeard, Newquay, and St Austell will change.
Each unit will open from 8am to 8pm daily. This is a change from the units’ core hours of 8am to 10pm. The change to the opening hours has been put in place on a temporary basis to minimise the number of short-notice closures.
Treatment for minor injuries will continue to be available at Bodmin, and Camborne and Redruth hospitals until 10pm, or Stratton hospital and West Cornwall Hospital 24-hours a day.
Minor injuries include: sprains and strains, minor fractures or breaks, traumatic wound infections (not surgical wounds), minor burns and scalds, head injuries (where the person has not been unconscious), insect and animal bites and stings, minor eye injuries and cuts, bruising and grazes.
If you are unsure about which service you need, visit the NHS 111 website to use the symptom checker or dial 111 on your phone.
Always dial 999 for life-threatening emergencies such as strokes, heart attacks or severe blood loss.
