Innovation Barriers and Opportunities,

6 July 2022, 10:00-16:00, RIA’s offices in Kings Building, 16 Smith Square, London, SW1P 3HQ

How can we overcome the barriers that slow or prevent innovation in the rail industry?
What are some of the biggest upcoming opportunities?

Free to attend

At this summer’s gathering, we will have conversations and workshops
on two interesting and important topics:

What are the obstacles that prevent the rail industry from innovating, and from benefitting quickly from successful R&D? How can the industry overcome these obstacles?

What is the future in rail for some major categories of technology – batteries, sensors, and digital twins? What are the challenges, expected future developments, and potential applications of these cross-cutting and fast-evolving technologies?

For more information and to book, please click HERE.

Have you reviewed the GB Rail Sustainable Rail Strategy (SRS) yet?

The SRS will be the first industry-wide sustainability strategy.
The strategy is being co-created and facilitated by RSSB through involvement
with the industry and overseen by DFT. The SRS will align with existing rail organisation strategies and highlight existing commitments. It will provide a strategic framework for delivering on the sustainability objective set by the government in the Whole Industry Strategic Plan (WISP).

Please click the link HERE to view the SRS and provide your feedback.

Deadline for feedback by the 15th July.

International & Export

On behalf of the ERCI: Are you an organisation looking for support with internationalisation or access to the railway multimobility sector?  The ERCI want to hear from UK companies - (a) to go international with public procurements in USA, Canada, Norway (b) to adopt Advanced Technologies in a smart way.  The two EU projects are open to SMEs operating or wishing to operate in the railway and multi-mobility - please complete the surveys below if you wish to participate in either of the projects.  Please select "Rail Alliance-UK" as your cluster option.

International Public Procurements of Railway Supplies / Services / Works & SME Participation:

The S-ACCESS project aims to develop tools to help SMEs of the Rail Supply Industry participate in Public Procurements in USA, Canada and Norway.  By completing the Survey this will help us better understand: (a) your level of readiness both as individual SME and as European SMEs working in the Rail Supply Industry; (b) the type of support mostly necessary to you both on individual basis and as "SME-group".  Click here for the survey - SMEs participation to International Public Procurements of Railway Supplies / Services / Works (google.com)

This pan-European survey is dedicated to SMEs operating (or wishing to operate) in the Railway and Multimodality sector.

The objective of this activity is to support SMEs to find solutions via the use of Advanced Technologies (new solutions for the market, improved internal processes, etc.). This survey is key in gathering the first set of necessary information and data regarding development priorities, needs and obstacles, technological competences, etc. Following this survey, 150 SMEs will receive direct assistance from us. Therefore, the more information you provide us, the better and tailored assistance you can receive. Click here for the survey - EUSurvey - Survey (europa.eu)
