Welcome Bishop Swing behind the Altar Next Sunday, June 19

Bishop Swing, retired Bishop of the Diocese of California and a member of St. Paul's along with his wife Mary since his retirement, will be the celebrant and preacher at the 8 and 10am services on Sunday, June 19.  Please plan to come and welcome Bishop Swing out of the pews and to the front of the Church.   Thank you to Bishop Swing for filling in for your home parish while Beth, our Transition Rector, is away on a trip planned before she joined us.

An Update on St. Paul's Covid Policies

There has been an increase in Covid cases in the Bay Area in the last month, some of which are the result of the new variant.  While San Mateo County has very high rates of vaccination among all eligible age groups, we are committed to continuing to care for the health and safety of all members of St. Paul's community.

St. Paul's Regathering Team, the Wardens and Rev. Beth met recently, reviewed the recent case numbers including trends in the incidence of Covid in the waste water analyses being performed, recently released guidance from the Diocese, and the latest guidance from both the Center for Disease Control (CDC) and San Mateo County Public Health.   Again, in our goal to continue to care for all members of St. Paul's community, guests and users of our facilities, we decided to reschedule groups of more than 20 using either Higbie or Brewer Halls to Foote Hall to provide the opportunity for greater social distancing and ventilation.    Thank you for understanding.

St. Paul's masking policy continues to be that masks are required for everyone inside any of St. Paul's facilities with an option for those fully vaccinated and boosted to choose not to wear a mask.  Thank you for continuing to respect the choices that members of St. Paul's community make as they consider this option if eligible and the continuing health and well-being of themselves and others.

St. Paul's Operation Backpacks Kicks Off This Week

The Annual St. Paul's Backpack Drive for Samaritan House clients IS BACK!  Last year, St. Pauls community and friends provided 240 backpacks.   What will this year's number be?  It's an easy and virtual way to help students in need.  The COVID -19 pandemic has hit our community's most vulnerable families very hard over the last 30 months.   All students deserve to start the school year knowing that their families and the greater community want them to have new backpacks with much-needed supplies.  It is a tradition for our St. Paul's community to donate new backpacks and supplies to local students in need through Samaritan House.  Like last year, all donations will be done online or through St. Paul's directly, with a deadline of JULY 18.  Thank you in advance for your support!

It's easy to participate in providing backpack/s for children in need by choosing one of the following options:
1.  Go to
https://www.roonga.com/stpaulschurchofburlingame to select choose the backpack/s you'd like to donate OR  scan the QR code below.
2.   Send a check (or give online) for Backpacks to St. Paul's Church, 415 El Camino Real, Burlingame, CA 94010 and we'll do the choosing for you.  If you send a check, please note "Backpacks" on it.

Summertime...summer fun at St. Paul's continued

We've heard from a couple of people thinking about organizing a summertime offering for St. Paul's community and friends--a movie for teens and adults is in the planning stages as well as drinks and nibbles in the Skillings Garden with old favorites from the 1950s-1970's which everyone will recognize offered by a local singer and guitarist in great demand.

Check this week's eblast or the June Newsletter about other possible activities which could be organized for everyone who wants to come or for a limited group number with sign ups.  Or, talk with Tish, Lisa or Jay (Wardens) about how you'd like to contribute to summer fun at St. Paul's.

Check out the New Bulletin Boards in the Parish Hall

You may have noticed that the largest ones have been blank all year.   A few of us combined pictures with the help of pics from others to resurrect our bulletin board to reflect St. Paul's happenings since last summer.  Take a look--for a pandemic year, we had a lot going on for young, old, and those in-between with reviving some pre-pandemic traditions and adding some new ones.  It's been quite a journey for the last year with more to come.

Get confirmed September 25, 2022!

Have questions about the world? about God? about how to make sense of things? Confirmation is an opportunity to ask questions about the Episcopal tradition and the practice of our community. It's a time of connection and curiosity about how our faith informs our lives. Weekly preparation classes begin Sunday, August 21st and extend to the Confirmation date. We hope to have a teen group and an adult group. Sign up with Jocelyn.
