Nightmare Alley: LIFEFORCE
Artwork by Adam Juresko
A space shuttle mission investigating Halley’s Comet brings back a malevolent race of space vampires who transform most of London’s population into zombies. The only survivor of the expedition and British authorities attempt to capture a mysterious but beautiful alien woman who appears responsible.
The first of 4 big-budget flops that ultimately tanked the Cannon Group, LIFEFORCE was too gloriously unhinged for critics and audiences in 1985. From the writers of ALIEN and DEATH WISH 3, and director Tobe Hooper, who was hot off the success of POLTERGEIST, this adaptation of Colin Wilson's novel manages to be even more tawdry, bizarre, and bombastic than its original title THE SPACE VAMPIRES. That is no mean feat! - Steven Landry

Artwork by Matthew Therrien
It's summer blockbuster time...which means, it's time for our annual Arnie pick! We are excited to show TRUE LIES -- as it's our favourite Arnold Schwarzenegger movie of all-time! (Sorry...not sorry)
A fun romantic comedy disguised as an action flick, TRUE LIES thrilled audiences in 1994 with its quick wit, snappy dialogue, great action scenes and with its infamous Jamie Lee Curtis striptease scene. We can't wait to see the movie thrill again on the big screen with a great crowd! - Serena Whitney
There will be a preshow, popcorn, wine & beer, trailers, and a themed cocktail.
*Customized game card is included in the price of admission.

70th Anniversary Screening! 4K Restoration!
When the transition is being made from silent films to `talkies', everyone has trouble adapting. Don and Lina have been cast repeatedly as a romantic couple, but when their latest film is remade into a musical, only Don has the voice for the new singing part. After a lot of practise with a diction coach, Lina still sounds terrible, and Kathy, a bright young aspiring actress, is hired to record over her voice.

Designing The Movies: SOME KIND OF WONDERFUL - 35th Anniversary Screening!
Artwork by Tony Smerek
35th Anniversary Screening!
High school love triangles are the worst but John Hughes - king of Eighties teen angst - makes them the best kind of worst. This love triangle about popular senior Amanda (Lea Thompson) and childhood best friends Keith (Eric Stoltz) and Watts (Mary Stuart Masterson) dealing with insecurity and rejection while figuring out who they are is an underrated gem of the Hughes canon. Best kiss. Best indie soundtrack. Best heroine. Those iconic red fringed gloves! Hughes collaborator and costume designer Marilyn Vance (also of Ferris Bueller, The Breakfast Club, Pretty in Pink) created the definitive 80s tomboy wardrobe. - NATHALIE ATKINSON
Presented with an introduction by series host Nathalie Atkinson

Dumpster Raccoon: HEDWIG AND THE ANGRY INCH - Sing-A-Long Screening!
Artwork by Nicole Partyka
Learn how some slip of a girly-boy from communist East Berlin could become the internationally ignored song stylist barely standing before you as we KICK OFF PRIDE WEEK at a special DUMPSTER RACCOON CINEMA singalong screening of HEDWIG AND THE ANGRY INCH (2001)!
Presented with video pre-show, queer opening performance, and open captions throughout – BELT ALONG as LOUD as you WANT as we relive the rollercoaster ride of Hedwig’s journey from the wreckage of Berlin to Miss Midwest Midnight Checkout Queen to the disorienting depths of New York’s nightclub scene in one of the greatest and most iconic queer musicals ever made!
Filmed in and around suburban Toronto, HEDWIG was the low-budget indie rock musical that should have taken the world by storm…except it was released on September 12, 2001. Barely making back half of its tiny $6 million dollar budget, it could have been forgotten – except, like Hedwig herself, it rose like a phoenix from the ashes of defeat to become one of the great icons of queer cinema and a punk-rock star of stage and screen! - ANTHONY OLIVEIRA
