Thoughts
Oh, where do I begin? I am beside myself excited as I write these words. It was decided that our VBS offering this year would be in memory of Dr. Tom Carey and given to an agency near and dear to his heart. After much thought we made the decision to donate to the St. Andrew’s Mission Clinic where he recently served. We also made the decision that donations to the clinic would be used to purchase meds for those in need.

Each evening during VBS we reminded the children of our offering. They responded overwhelmingly and they collected $500. Then came the VBS Mission Challenge to the church on Sunday morning. Once again, the response was overwhelming as our church members reached deep into their pockets and donated $1076 as of this writing. That makes for a total of $1576!!

I say this not to boast but to give thanks to a God who supplies our needs according to his riches and glory. God is doing great things in our midst, and I hope and trust we recognize that his gracious hand is upon us. It is so easy to get discouraged these days but that is exactly when we should remember this is our Father’s world and God is ruler yet!!

It is my hope and prayer that we remember and respond to all God is doing. Our response can make a difference. This particular response will purchase medicines that are sorely needed. Our continued response to serve and to give in other areas will cause others to experience the gracious hand of God in unexpected and exciting ways. In other words, it is the church being the church, offering Christ to a broken world.

Let us keep on keeping on as we join hearts and hands with our God who calls us to join him in his redemptive work.

In-Boarding = Wednesday July 20 @ 5:30 pm

What is In-Boarding?
It’s a question-and-answer session basically.  Your chance to ask any question you want – and get a clear and concise answer (We hope).

What kind of question can you ask?
Anything you want to know.  A bible question, a theology question, a question about Methodism or denominational politics, a question about our Church, our worship, our finances – there is nothing off limits.

Your Church is committed: to speak the truth in love, to be authentic, genuine, and real; and to be transparent in our decision making.  And we really, really love to answer questions (especially about the bible, but about other stuff too).

Submitting your question in advance is appreciated but not required – and will improve your chance of getting a non-rambling answer — just email it to one of us or to Valori — Dr Speegle, Christopher Hart, Connie Felter, Kevin Martin, and others will be on hand, and we hope to see you there.

Plus + SUMMER REFRESHMENTS!
Please let us know if there is anything in the church or on the grounds that needs immediate attention; take a photo with your phone and email (or text) it along with the details to janitor@centenary-umc.net so we can keep our church looking clean and beautiful.

Let us pray . . . prayer
Almighty God,
you have built your Church
upon the foundation
of the apostles and prophets,
Jesus Christ himself
being the chief cornerstone:
Grant us so to be joined together
in unity of spirit by their teaching,
that we may be made a holy temple
acceptable to you;
through Jesus Christ our Lord,
who lives and reigns with you
and the Holy Spirit, one God,
for ever and ever.
 Amen.
