OLDE FURROW FARM

To provide, engage and inspire with diverse, sustainably grown produce - cultivating a deeper appreciation of  local food in the community

Welcome to our CSA!

We are so happy you have decided to take this seasonal food journey with us this year! In this journey we hope to show you new and wondrous ways of using your food, provide insight on how farming synergistically with nature benefits the health of all living things, as well as inspire and enrich your connection with your food and the people that grow it.
We grow around 4 acres of crops each season with additional land resting in cover crop or pasture. The land is owned by Adam's parents and totals a little over 100 acres. The farm is completely surrounded and protected by woodlands and borders the Jijuktu'kwejk (Cornwallis) river. We have been farming for +10 years now and have always approached farming with a "nature first" attitude. So who the heck are we?!

Adam Webster

The leader of the soil, wrangler of the tractor and all it's parts, seeker of weird crops, wanna-be survivalist, amazing poet, wild food enthusiast, tool geek, patient and detailed orientated.

Born and raised in Nova Scotia farming his family's land as a third generation farmer.

Courtney May

The organizer/planner, fastest hand weeder in the east, plant geek, photographer, food whisperer, wanna-be herbalist, transplant care giver, pest watcher, toughest and most emotional.

Grew up in suburban Florida and transplanted in Nova Scotia after following her soulmate Adam back home.
WHAT MEMBERS CAN EXPECT

CSA DATES & DELIVERIES

Deliveries are every Wednesday & Saturday starting on July 6th - Nov 19th.

1st Share: Wed. July 6 & Sat. July 9
Last Share: Wed. Nov.16 & Sat. Nov 19

Make sure you know where your hub location is and the time. WFM2go will send out reminders every week.

Share Expectations

You will receive between 6-10 items and sometimes more depending on the season. We always share our "bumper crops" with our CSA members first and in the case of a crop failure will source from another local spray-free farm whenever able. We will also always let you know what, why, and who we sourced from in the newsletter so you always have the full picture!
We try to keep it to one really odd veggie every other week and provide lots of info on how to use this veggie. However you will receive new veggie "variations" every week such as yellow cucumbers, purple radishes, orange tomatoes, etc. in order to keep shares interesting but not overwhelming. This  also prevents your kitchen from piling up with one particular veggie from week to week.

Weekly CSA Newsletter

You will receive a newsletter via e-mail each week on the Monday before Wednesday/Saturday delivery. We will provide a veggie list of what will be arriving in your share, recipes that go with what is in your share, background about more unusual veggies you may see, tips and tricks on how to use/store your veggies and farm updates about what we have been up to that week.

Add To Your Newsletter

We want you to share your journey too! Email us your words of wisdom, whether it be a new cooking trick you learn, a newly discovered love for a veggie or simply that you tricked your kid/husband into eating beets and zucchini by sneaking them into a cake! We want to hear about it and share it with others on this trip! Or send in your questions and we will feature them in the newsletter! Share as much or as little as you wish :)

Making Shares Work For You

Please fill out this google form on the veggies, fruit and herbs your family uses or doesn't use, plus any planned vacation time. This will help us plan and swap out these items from week to week as we pack your share.

How Swaps Works

We use this information to help easily and quickly alter your share if needed. For example if you said "no hot peppers" we will then swap them for sweet peppers. We usually keep the swaps similar to what is offered but what is on your fav list. We have found this setup a perfect balance between getting you more of what you want without adding too much extra work on us farmers!

Picking Up Your Shares

All shares will arrive labeled in a compostable brown paper grocery bag which will sit inside a blue tote that will also be labelled with your name. Grab your share and any ordered add-ons sitting alongside your CSA share in the tote but please leave behind the tote.

Hub locations/ Delivery driver may not have all the answers to your questions, so please contact us via email or phone and we will always get back to you! If you miss your pick up time your share will be donated to the driver/ hub host handling your location.

Can't Pick Up Your Share

If you know in advance that you will not be able to get your share let us know and we will try to work something out. We understand that life happens. The sooner you let us know the more options you will have. Also friends and family can pick up your share as long as they use your name at the pick up. :)
Monthly Open Farm Days
We are starting something new for CSA members this year! We are going to have an Open Farm Day once a month which will be on Fridays from 2-6pm! In previous years (pre-pandemic) we used to have one day but it never worked for everyone and it bummed us out. We are hoping this new setup will allow more people to come out to the farm. And if you are really into it, come every month and see how much the farm changes from season to season. We have lots of trails to walk and you can even walk right down to the river ! Bring a picnic, bring your dogs and enjoy the farm you help support every week!
Here Are Some Veggies You May See This Season!
We have a couple spaces left so let your friends know!
