We need your help again...

This is our second and last email to you about this part of the Tokai Cecilia Management Framework (TCMF) process.

It has come to our attention that one stakeholder group has negotiated a change to the TCMF process with SANParks, which has been approved without consultation with the rest of the stakeholders. We object to this ammendment and would like to ask our stakeholders to support us with this by please clicking the button below (if the button doesn't work for you, please email us and we will assist you manually). For more information, please read on below.

A friendly reminder: Our first email was to ask you to support our comments on the draft revised TCMF. If you haven't yet submitted comments, please consider supporting ours: https://mailchi.mp/4378add79cf3/tcmf_action1. The deadline is tomorrow, 31 May 2022

On 23 May 2022 all stakeholders received an email from Dr Howard Hendricks stating that a unilateral decision had been made by SANParks Managing Executives, Mr Property Mokoena and Dr Luthando Dziba, “to consider the current draft as an ‘interim’ draft for public comment”, and to add “another round of drafting and commenting”

We have many issues with this (read our letter to SANParks to see all our objections), however perhaps most alarmingly, is the evidence that has come to light on social media that this process may have become compromised, with one particular stakeholder group being behind the request for amendments to the process.

On the Parkscape facebook page, a post was made on 23 May 2022, the same day that the email from Dr Hendricks was sent out. It states: “SANParks has agreed to consider the current draft as an "interim draft" which will inform a second draft plan” (see screengrab below).

It appears from this evidence, that SANParks has entered into private consultation with one stakeholder group only, and has taken unilateral decisions without considering or including other stakeholders.

With whom within SANParks was this proposed amendment agreed upon, and when? Has SANParks been forced to comply with the demands of this stakeholder group or is someone within SANParks deliberately compromising the process?

Based on this, and our other objectives, we are objecting to this amendment to the stakeholder engagement process. If you agree, please click the big red button above.
