Colchester Castle
Kick off the weekend's celebrations in Castle Park 
The Mayor of Colchester will be kicking off the city's Jubilee celebrations in Castle Park this Thursday with a Royal Gun Salute and a community picnic. Check out the
Borough Council website for more Jubilee fun.

Our Day Nursery children bury a letter to the future
The Wivenhoe Park Day Nursery time capsule, buried to mark the Jubilee, will be dug up by children in 50 years. A lot of hard work went in to making items for the capsule which will offer a glimpse into nursery life in 2022. Find out what was written on the letter to the future... or wait until 2072.

Learn more about the UK honours system
To celebrate the Jubilee, the Cabinet Office is running free virtual events from 14 to 17 June on the UK honours system and making nominations. Join them to hear from special guest speakers and inspiring honours recipients like Jay Blades and Lemn Sissay OBE.

Some Essex Food outlets will be closed during the Jubilee
Buffalo Joe's will be open from 11.30am to 10pm every day, and Crumbs will be open from 9am to 4pm. All other outlets will be closed.
Essex Sport will be open from 10am to 6pm on Thursday and Friday, then back to normal at the weekend.
Essex Sport opening hours are different this bank holiday
The opening hours for Essex Sport facilities will be reduced on Thursday 2 and Friday 3 June. They'll be back to normal on Saturday and Sunday.

Academic nominations to the University Senate
Nominations are invited for four academic staff to join Senate from 2022-23 to 2025-26. Nominations can only be made by permanent members of academic staff who are in non-professorial posts, and BAME staff are particularly welcomed. The closing date is 14 June at 5pm.

Diabetes Week takes place from 13 to 19 June. Mental health specialists Able Futures will run a 
free webinar on 13 June at 2pm to explain how diabetes and mental health can be connected, and outline how anyone who is in work can get support.

Raising awareness sessions for staff
Two 60-minute sessions to raise awareness will take place in June: Understanding Hearing and Visual Impairments, on 14 June at 1pm, and Specific Learning Differences and Diagnostic Assessment, on 21 June at 1pm.
