I like podcasts. Like, a lot. I wouldn't consider myself an early adopter of most things, but with podcasts, I've been in the mix since pretty early on in the game, even before (if you can believe it) Serial came out. Long before I started Campfires and Color Wars, I produced the NBA's first-ever podcast and, interestingly enough, actually co-hosted a mini-podcast with then Atlanta Hawks guard and current LA Clippers head coach Tyronn Lue.
I enjoy the intimacy of the medium, how you can really get to know someone's personality in a way most other settings don't provide.
Which is a roundabout way of introducing a new podcast I am so excited to debut today called The Cocoon Podcast.
The Cocoon is a collaboration between me and Kim Lindauer, a long-time friend and the proprietor of My Venn Life who has been a mentor throughout my Who Knows One? journey.
Kim and I are both in the midst of big life transformations, and the podcast is a series of weekly conversations we are having with each other while we're in the thick of it - inside the cocoon, if you will.
There are a lot of books/podcasts/etc about how to make changes in your life, but they are almost exclusively created after the fact, when people can look back at their journeys and spotlight the steps they took to get where they were going. That's all well and good, but they don't capture all of the emotions and uncertainty one faces when you're in it and don't know what's going to happen or how the story will end.
The past two years have brought a tremendous amount of upheaval, and many of us have taken the opportunity - or been forced - to move in new directions. This podcast is meant to capture the spirit of these times, with all the ups and downs included.
We hope you listen and enjoy it, and if you know someone who is going through a change of their own, please send it along to them as well. This stuff isn't easy, but it's more bearable knowing others are experiencing similar things. Enjoy!
