Supporting Multiculturalism Locally
Survey for Local Government

Local Governments play an important role in the lives of all Western Australians and have a tangible impact on their day to day lives. For residents from culturally and linguistically diverse (CaLD) backgrounds—including recently arrived migrants and refugees—Local Governments, not only provide crucial services and community programs, but also promote a sense of belonging and participation in all aspects of life.

The Office of Multicultural Interests (OMI) is asking Local Government to complete a short survey to inform the review and updating its planning guide (Implementing the Principles of Multiculturalism Locally) which aims to assist Local Governments in supporting CaLD residents and communities at the local level.

Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples hold a special place in our communities and connect the broader population with a wealth of history, tradition and culture which enriches our society.  Our work regularly takes us across the State and as such WALGA would like to acknowledge the many traditional owners of the land on which we work throughout Western Australia. We pay our respects to their Elders, past, present and emerging.
