02. Town Deal

An update by Susie Colley on progress of projects funded by the Town Deal benefitting from the Government’s £21.9 million investment which is being overseen by the TDA /Torbay Council:

  • The Pavilion
  • The Strand
  • Debenhams
  • GPO roundabout
  • Questions from the floor
 

03. Christmas Markets

The Torquay Chamber of Commerce and local leading business owners have put forward a proposal to Torbay Council to establish a year round market experience utilising the events space at the Banjo in Princess Gardens on Torquay Harbour.

A CGI example of how it could look can be seen in the photo below. We are aiming to launch later this year with a boutique Christmas market, primarily for local retailers, and if it is a success then there is a proposal to hold a market each month providing a "calendar" of events to attract both residents and visitors alike – more details to be released soon.

05. Torquay Town Centre Policing

  • Discussion around the deterioration of the centre of town and Policing.
  • Discussion regarding the steps that are now in place to provide evidence to help clear the town of miscreants and those intend on criminal damage.
  • Members and non members working together to support the Police and insist in having more boots on the ground.
  • Discuss the increase in Police precept and challenge the PCC so that we have more to help save our shops.
  • Questions from the floor.
