Electricity Market Group Forum

"We would certainly like to hear the Nordic voice even clearer in Brussels," said Catharina Sikow-Magny, Director of Internal Energy Market at the European Commission, at the fourth Nordic Electricity Market Forum, in Helsinki on May 18–19th. The forum was succesfully organized by the Electricity Market Group, as energy stakeholders gathered to explore and mobilize around this year's topic – electrification. By way of co-operation, the forum succeeded in strengthening common understanding, inspiring further dialogue, and purposely bringing forth constructive advice on electrification, which are key to meeting the climate targets efficiently.

Great interest in the Nordic Energy Challenge

The first stage of the Nordic Energy Challenge 2022 is completed, as the submission deadline for participation was on May 22nd. Nordic Energy Research received nine solution proposals for this year's challenge – Energy in the Arctic – of which seven have qualified for the second stage and will be asked to submit a final proposal on August 11th.
"Hydrogen and micro grids/storage are the recurring themes of the seven selected proposals. In general, the quality of each individual proposal is high – which is promising for the further selection process towards a winner," says Klaus Skytte, CEO at Nordic Energy Research.

Announcement: DNV and NIVA are selected to carry out the study "Co-existence and nature in Nordic offshore wind farms"

Nordic Energy Research is pleased to announce that DNV, with NIVA as a subcontractor, has been selected to carry out the study Co-existence and nature in Nordic offshore wind farms, building on DNV's prior work from the report Accommodating biodiversity in Nordic offshore wind projects.
“The project will identify recommendations to accommodate co-existence between different industries, stakeholders and nature when developing offshore wind in the Nordics. This will be important to ensure efficient processes and sustainable solutions for the industry, society and nature,” says Marte Rusten, Principal Consultant Sustainability at DNV and project manager.
