Show your creativity for Pride
Staff, students, faculty, librarians, and alumni are all invited to join in on the fun on Wednesday, June 15, as all three campuses of U of T celebrate Pride Month and #UofTPride with the annual #DisplayYourPride event.
Work with your colleagues to show off your creativity and decorate your office or student space (at home or on campus) in support of Pride! Ways to get involved can include anything from decorating your desk, to dressing up, to creating a piece of artwork, showing off a virtual background or putting up colourful balloons – anything goes! Tick Talk
UTM community members are reminded to watch for Lyme disease-causing blacklegged ticks when in wooded and long grassy areas on campus.
Immatures ticks are the size of a poppy seed while adult ticks are the size of a sesame seed.
To prevent tick bites:
  • Wear light-coloured clothing so it’s easier to see ticks, closed-toed shoes, long-sleeved shirts that fit tightly around the wrist and tuck long pants into socks.
  • Apply insect repellent or bug spray with DEET or icaridin to exposed skin and clothing (follow label directions).
  • After being outdoors, check clothing and body for ticks, especially around the groin area, belly button, armpits, head and behind ears and knees. Check for ticks on children, equipment/gear and pets.
  • Shower or bathe within two hours of being outdoors to wash off any ticks.
  • Put clothes worn outdoors in dryer on high heat for at least 10 minutes.
