Every week is busy here at The Matthew Project, but last week takes some beating! At the top of the list of highlights has to be our latest award, which now takes pride of place by our front entrance at Oak Street. This blue plaque was commissioned and produced by the Norfolk Lieutenancy to commemorate our work during Covid 19. A thank you to Deputy Lieutenant Matthew Hutton, for recommending us and presenting the award. We are very proud of this achievement.
It's goodbye to Leah, who has been working with On Track on a student placement:
"My time working with On Track has been enjoyable. From being a former participant of the service to be welcomed into the team is very humbling. I have really enjoyed seeing the behind-the-scenes of how activities and programmes have been made. You can see that a lot of effort has been put into making the service very person centred, and the overall support is amazing.
It's been good to be a part of the team and thank you for all that have welcomed me into it."
Staff member Paula from our Unity team, attended an event at East Norfolk sixth form as part of mental health awareness week recently. She met the mayor and mayoress of Great Yarmouth. Pictured below Paula is a friendly mini donkey who seemed very interested in meeting the team and checking out our stall! THANK YOU to Ormiston Families 'We Will' project and their young ambassadors for organising the event and inviting us to be part of it. We had a great day.
Some great pictures here from a group of our young female clients who visited Darling Darlings Cat Lounge in Great Yarmouth. According to some studies, interacting with a friendly pet can help many physical and mental issues, plus it can help reduce blood pressure and improve overall cardiovascular health.
Certainly all the attendees of this group had a wonderful time eating yummy cake and enjoying the company of each other, alongside these gorgeous cats! Well worth a visit if you're ever in the area.
Look at the smiles on these faces! This picture is from our new sewing group that has started for our Recovery Support Programme members at our Norwich centre. Volunteer and long term supporter Jackie, set up this group to share her skills and it's fair to say it's been a total success so far. On the left is member Andy who has a benign tremor and therefore didn't ever expect to have any success with a sewing needle. He has now completed a set of cushions that are being used on the sofas in reception. Big thanks to Jackie for this.
As you can see from above, we have a couple of vacancies available at the moment. If you are interested, please click on the picture to find out more. We are also looking for volunteers to help keep our centre looking tip top during the summer months. If you have any spare time or know someone that does, please get in touch.
That's it for today. We hope you've enjoyed reading our news and the opportunity to take five minutes! Have a wonderful time this weekend and stay safe.👑

Thanks for your time as always and very best wishes,
