Advancing the Use of Research Evidence in Decision-Making in the Social Protection System: Strengthening the Capacity at Four Social Sector Ministries in Trinidad and Tobago

Check out the latest blog by the PEERSS Trinidad and Tobago team discussing how they are strengthening the use of evidence informed decision-making in the social systems by improving the capacities of four social sector ministries! This blog describes the needs assessment exercise they used to understand perspectives and approaches to evidence use and staff training needs. With this information the team designed a training session that emphasized joint learning and will provide ongoing coaching and mentoring to ministry staff.

PEERSS Columbia Partner The Unit of Evidence and Deliberation for Decision Making (UNED) at the Facility of Medicine at the University of Antioquia uses global and local evidence to produce evidence synthesis and conduct deliberative dialogues to inform the formulation of health policies and improve the health outcomes of Columbia’s population. The team’s recent activities include a living evidence synthesis on the effectiveness of available COVID-19 vaccines for children and adolescents, conducted in partnership with McMaster University, the University of Ottawa, and COVID-END and being used by the Public Health Agency of Canada.
