Required Post Reports

All American Legion posts are required to submit the following two annual reports:

1. Consolidated Post Report

The Consolidated Post Report (CPR) was established in order to assist departments in the documentation of the various activities a specific post has done during the twelve-month reporting period, June 1 through May 31. The CPR may be the most beneficial document the post will complete. The post’s information, combined with that of other posts, is used when the National Commander and others testify on Capitol Hill as mandated by our federal charter. Each post has a story to tell and when we speak collectively our strength is magnified.

The CPR can also be completed online on myLegion.org. Make sure to have all the information
ready, then simply sign-on and look for Consolidated Post Reports on the left sidebar. After
completing the form, click on the “Submit” button to send the report to National Headquarters;
a copy will automatically be sent to your department headquarters, as well. On-line submission will be available at myLegion.org through July 1st, the cutoff for receipt of forms at National Headquarters.

When using the paper form, send the original and one copy to the department headquarters to arrive not later than June 30, 2022. Keep the third copy for the post records. Paper forms may be scanned and
sent directly to national at mssforms@legion.org.See link in red below.

LogoSailAhead and the Centerport Yacht Club Partner for the sixth year for a Veterans’ Sailing day!
This year SailAhead will be having their 6th Annual Take a Veteran Sailing Event at Centerport Yacht Club!
Over the last two years, COVID-19 has prevented us from getting veterans out on the water at-scale. This year we are resuming our sailing programs.

The event date this year is Sunday, July 31st.
We will be honoring SPC Ryan James Day, an Army Ranger from the 2nd Battalion, 75th Army Regiment (along with all Our Mates). Ryan died by suicide at 21 years old, on December 15, 2014.

The day’s schedule is tentative, but will look something like this:
12:00 PM: Veterans and Guest arrive at Centerport YC for sign in.

12:00 – 1:00 PM: Ceremony will commence when guests and veterans are signed in. We will board the boats immediately after the ceremony.

5:00 – 5:30 PM: Weather depending, we head back to the docks where a BBQ and live music will be waiting for us.

7:00 PM: Event ends.

Sons of The American Legion Squadron Documents
Post Commanders and members,
I am attaching 3 documents that I am asking you to pass on to your SAL Squadron Commander. One is a letter from The Detachment Commander David Lee explaining the other two  attachments, a new SAL Officer Certification form for next years SAL officers and the SAL Consolidated Squadron report which details what your Squadron has done for the past year. Please impress upon your Squadron the importance of filling these forms out as it details what the Squadron  and the Detachment of NY have accomplished and it is sent to National HQ and they file a report to Congress detailing what the SAL has done to justify their existence and retain their Tax exempt status. Please have them send these forms back to Charlie@nylegion.org as soon as they are completed. The NY SAL submission rate for CSRs is at 3% the lowest in the nation.

Veterans Peer-to-Peer Program

The purpose of the Veterans Peer-to-Peer Program is to help our veterans resolve their problems by giving them a place to go for that help. To understand how our program works is simply demonstrated and explained in the following illustration. The veteran takes a glass of water (which represents stress) in his/her hand, and while standing up, holds it out straight in front. The longer it’s held, the heavier the stress gets. A veteran peer comes along beside the veteran holding the glass, and seeing the stress, the veteran peer makes the veteran comfortable by helping him/her to sit down in a chair. This also lowers the height of the outstretched arm holding the glass, making it easier for the peer to hold the arm with the glass and reduce the stress. However, there is still stress. Then along comes a clergy who takes the glass of water (stress) away. Thus, the stress is relieved.

The Veterans Peer-To-Peer Program Was Established by the Suffolk County, New York American Legion to Reach Out and Help Our Fellow Veterans
