Principal Update
Great schools are defined by high academic achievement, growing student enrollment, quality staff, and happy kids. Our school is all these things and more. However, I believe the most significant value of our Catholic school community is the many things upon which one cannot place a number. Namely, Saint John the Baptist School provides an environment rooted in traditional Catholic values. These values inform the way we teach, the way we respond to problems, and the way we grow together as disciples of Jesus Christ. It is beautiful to have a community to send children to where the staff and families share these same Christian values.

As I leave my role as principal at Saint John the Baptist School, I will miss this remarkable sense of community the most. My family will remain a part of our parish and the school, and I look forward to serving SJB and the GRACE community in my new role. I will be spending the month of June preparing to transition leadership to Ms. Vance, and I will work closely with her next school year to ensure a successful transition. She brings with her the right combination of passion for learning, deep Catholic faith, and leadership experiences, and she will be a fantastic fit for our community.

I wish to thank our school for a remarkable six years as the principal at SJB. Any success our school has had is due to the hard work of countless people, and I wish to acknowledge a few of them.
  • Thank you to my wife, Laura, for the many sacrifices she makes to allow me to serve our Catholic school and for her enduring compassion, constant support, and endless prayers.
  • Thank you to Fr. Jim and the parish staff for their commitment to helping lead each of our families closer to Jesus through prayer, community, and the Sacraments.
  • Thank you to our teachers for their enduring spirit, compassion, and dedication to serving children. They are the heart of this school and what makes SJB such a great place to belong.
  • Thank you to our administrative assistant, Melissa Hollihan, for her support, leadership, and guidance in our school community. Much of our school’s successful operation is because of her hard work.
  • Thank you to Eric Guzowski and our active SAC leaders for the many ways that they use their time and professional skills to improve our school. Each of our parents is an integral part of helping support our school’s mission at home and supporting our Catholic ideals.
  • Thank you to our many financial donors for allowing SJB to fund facility updates, provide the best for our teachers, and create memorable experiences for our students.
  • Thank you to the staff of the GRACE system for the many unseen acts of service that allow our school to operate successfully, remain focused on children, and aim toward the future.
This June marks the conclusion of our school’s 134th school year. Although the building, teaching methods, and staff have all changed, the commitment to learning and faith remain deep. May our Lord continue to lead and guide St. John the Baptist School for many years to come.

Mission and Vision Statements

In 2018 we updated our school mission statement to what it is today. Our mission statement tells our staff, students, and community why we exist. This mission statement is recited daily on the announcements and is the foundation we use to make our decisions.

Our Mission: Our Catholic family inspires disciples of Jesus by educating the whole child through prayer, high academic expectations, and service to others.

This year our staff wrote a vision statement together. A vision statement is a lofty ideal of what we want our school to become. This vision statement will serve as a focused direction for our school during our leadership transition and for many years to come.

Our Vision: St. John the Baptist School is a Catholic community that forms disciples of Jesus Christ. Our students learn to become servant leaders in a collaborative environment, treating others with respect and empathy. High standards lead our school to success in academics, relationships, and service to others.
