For our last no cost MCLE before our summer hiatus, we will be hearing from a national expert on mediation techniques. Professor Michael Colatrella, along with being recognized as being at the forefront of legal education reform, is an expert in alternative dispute resolution with more than 20 years of innovative work in mediating disputes. His current scholarship focuses on improving mediator techniques and processes so that self-represented litigants may participate more meaningfully and effectively. Professor Colatrella is a court-approved mediator in four states, and prior to joining academia was a litigator in trial and appellate courts. He co-directs the Institute of Law Teaching and Learning at McGeorge School of Law.

ANNOUNCEMENTS

The new local rule on remote appearance in Yolo Superior Court is available here.

Effective March 14^th, the Court will be dropping COVID restrictions, including as follows:

Masks will not be required (but of course are allowed);
All judicial officers will hear cases in their own departments, including jury hardship screening (Commissioner Hohenwarter will move back to D2 for her entire calendar);
Social distancing markers and plexiglass will be removed; and
Jurors will be able to sit in the jury box rather than dispersed throughout the courtroom.

Optional remote appearance will continue, in accordance with Local Rule 2.4.
