NEXT GAA MEETING:
June 9th, 7pm
BMAI, 2228 Florencita Dr., Montrose, CA
Masks are highly recommended.
Greetings to all for a lovely Summer.

PRESIDENT'S MESSAGE

It's June! This month, we have new member news to share in our Member News and events section below.

At our May meeting our members enjoyed showing their creativity with recycled materials and had a chance to make more art from various recycled objects.

We will have our next GAA meeting on June 9th at 7pm, at BMAI (2228 Florencita Dr., Montrose, CA 91020). While masks are no longer required, they are highly recommended.

Congratulations to our May mini-show winners, Helena B., Sylvie A. and Joanne P.  Remember: we need 8 artists to bring a piece of work so we can hold a mini-show, so bring your latest artwork!

Our event for this month's meeting is a watercolor demonstration by Donna Barnes- Roberts.    Lots of fun.

Yay!  GAA has been accepted into The Montrose Arts and Crafts Festival held the weekend of June 4th and 5th. There is no charge to GAA since we are a non profit.   We will be promoting GAA and can offer some of our works to the public for sale. See the flier below.

We will also continue our discussion regarding changes coming at BMAI and how it might affect GAA. Additionally, we are working on possible shows at BMAI and USC Verdugo Hills Hospital.

REMINDER: It's time to renew your membership.

Diane M. Carter
GAA President
Upcoming demonstration for the Glendale Art Association by Donna Barnes-Roberts

Donna has been an active watercolorist for over 3 decades.  She is an Artist Member of the California Art Club, and has won many awards (some from art clubs that no longer exist), but gets pretty excited when called on to teach people how to manage watercolor.  She has been teaching watercolor in the Pasadena area for almost as many years.

Rather than paint a whole painting, she will demonstrate a number of watercolor techniques and delve into the depths of color mixing.  It takes her considerably longer than 2 hours to actually complete a painting, or even get close.  Hopefully this discorse and demonstration will help illucidate how she manages watercolor, and makes watercolor (mostly) do what she wants.  Bring your questions!

Donna is teaching watercolor classes at The Coffee Gallery in Altadena and at BMAI in Montrose. Ongoing classes are available for enrollment, just check her website Information about her classes and artwork here.  Her ukulele adventures can be found at here
