Working in partnership with City Cruises and York Park & Ride, and in honour of Her Majesty the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee, our Vintage York campaign is now live. Inspired by the travel adverts of the 1950s, the three week campaign running until 5th June is designed to ignite nostalgia and play on the elegance and glamour of the 1950s travel boom. The Autumn/Winter Guide is your chance to showcase your Autumn and Winter offerings, special events and unique experiences, including Halloween and Christmas. 50k copies are printed and distributed through the Visitor Information Centre, key attractions across Yorkshire and promoted across the Visit York social media and newsletters. Email Faye.Davis@makeityork.com by 19th August to reserve your place.

There's still time to still time to contribute data to help measure the economic significance of conferences/meetings in York. The UK Conference and Meeting Survey (UKCAMS) undertakes annual research to estimate the size and value of the UK’s conference and meeting sector. Please submit details of any conference and meeting business held at your venue during the calendar year 2021 here. The questionnaire is strictly confidential and will end later this week.

Delegate Offers
As more business events return to the city, we're collating delegate offers to share with business visitors attending a meeting or conference in York. We hope to include a wide range of discounts from Visit York members to extend a warm welcome to delegates; these could be food & drink offers, reduced entry to attractions/museums or an incentive to return to York with family or friends.

If you want to display a special offer on our ‘Delegate Offers’ page, login to the Visit York Business Login, click on the relevant business > ‘Manage Offers’ > ‘Create Offer’ and fill in the sections accordingly.

Please ensure you select ‘Delegate Offers’ as the offer category and state any T&Cs, exclusions, or pre-booking requirements. Remember, any changes made to your business listing will need to be approved by our membership team.

Visit York Member Events

To celebrate opening on the 1st June, Rosa's Thai is inviting all accommodation & tour members to a launch party on the 8th June, 6-8pm. The event will include fresh and vibrant canapés from Rosa's Thai's founder Saiphin Moore, delicious signature cocktails and plenty of Rosa's signature Thai hospitality. You can sign up here.

Fairfax House invites all Visit York members to an exclusive viewing of a brand new exhibition 'If Walls Could Talk: The forgotten story of Ann Fairfax'. Based on brand new research, it highlights the ways in which Ann Fairfax has been mistreated and misunderstood both in her lifetime and by historians since. Chocolate is at the heart of the city, and to celebrate York's Chocolate Story 10th anniversary this year, they're welcoming members to experience the attraction on the 15th June at 6pm. There will be a short introduction from Stuart the General Manager as well as drinks, nibbles and of course chocolate! Join Sarah and Brittany from the Visit York Communications team for a session on all things press and PR. They'll cover PR basics, what journalists are looking for, how to pitch, what you can do to better your chances of press coverage and how Visit York can help. Join tourism consultant Susan Briggs on Tuesday 5th July for a training workshop on how to complete an award-winning application for the Visit York Tourism Awards 2023. There will be three sessions throughout the day, at 11am, 1pm and 6pm at Park Inn by Radisson, with the option to join virtually to the 6pm session. Visit York members have come together to welcome Ukraine's Kyiv City Ballet for a special gala performance at the York Theatre Royal. All ticket proceeds from the performance on the 14th June, will go to UNICEF’s Ukraine Appeal. A new Lord Mayor of York was announced at this year's City of York Council's Annual Council meeting, with Councillor David Carr being officially appointed as the Right Honourable Lord Mayor of York. The procession took place at York's Guildhall, the first event since the extensive improvement work in 2019. The York Racial Equality Network run a helpline for reporting hate crime. The number of hate crimes reported in York has risen by 50% over the last four years. If you are the victim of, or witness, race-related hate crime, you can contact the team to report the crime and get advice on next steps. They also offer free advice and support for victims and witnesses who need a safe place to discuss their experiences. Find out more here.
