Hi everyone,

I hope you have had a good week so far and have been able to enjoy some of the bank holiday. There is of course lots going on in the next few days in relation to the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee, let’s pray it’s a great weekend and that it also provides us with many opportunities to share the gospel.

When it comes to praying for our leaders, 1 Timothy 2:1-4 gives us direct instruction:

I urge, then, first of all, that petitions, prayers, intercession and thanksgiving be made for all people— for kings and all those in authority, that we may live peaceful and quiet lives in all godliness and holiness. This is good, and pleases God our Saviour, who wants all people to be saved and to come to a knowledge of the truth.”

Let’s be praying for the Queen in these days and giving thanks for her strong Christian faith and witness. As well as that, let’s take it as an opportunity to engage with things going in our local community, getting to know our neighbours and being salt and light wherever we are.

New Preaching Series – Gentle and Lowly

This Sunday we are kicking off a new series, Gentle and Lowly. Christians generally know what Jesus Christ has done. But who is He? What is He like, deep down? What is His deepest heart for His people, weary and faltering, as we journey towards heaven?

In an astonishing passage in Matthew’s Gospel, Jesus describes Himself as “gentle and lowly in heart”. In this series, based on Dane Ortlund’s outstanding recent book Gentle and Lowly, we will reflect on the heart of Christ for sinners and suffers: His affections, His commitments, His emotions and intentions, His passions and desires. It is an opportunity for all of us to get to know Jesus once again, not just for what He has achieved – as glorious and transforming as that is – but for who He is.

Don’t miss the first week this Sunday as we hear Joe speaking.

Membership Morning – Sunday, 12th June

You may be new to King’s or you may have been coming for years but have never attended a membership morning and made that step of becoming a member of King’s. If that’s you, I’d love you to come along to the membership morning at Kings on Sunday 12th June.

The morning is led by Steve Tibbert, our Senior Pastor, and is an opportunity to find out more about our history, vision and values and what it means to be a member.

By attending you're not signing up to be a member; after the morning there is an opportunity to meet with one of the leaders to chat further and ask any questions, before taking the step of membership.

If you would like to attend, please do sign up here.
Every blessing,

Charles
