Wild and Scenic Film Festival!

The 4th Annual Shasta Living Streets Wild and Scenic Film Festival is almost here. Experience 10 stunning films, gorgeous cinematography, and inspiring storytelling on a huge screen under the stars in the outdoor venue at the California Street Labs in downtown Redding. Both in-person and virtual tickets are available.

When: Saturday June 11, doors open at 6:30 and film begins at 8

🇺🇸 Almost Half of America Believes in the Great Replacement Theory (SPLC) Almost 48% of those polled subscribed to the conspiracy theory, according to survey results just released by the Southern Poverty Law Center and Tulchin Research. The belief is bipartisan although it skews to the right with nearly 7 in 10 Republicans in the survey group agreeing to at least some extent that demographic changes in the United States are deliberately driven by liberal and progressive politicians attempting to gain political power by “replacing more conservative white voters.” Hat tip: Teddy Wilson

💦 Does California Have Enough Water For Lots of New Homes? (LA Times) Yes, say experts, because statewide, 80% of California water is used for agriculture, not by households. Another 10% waters lawns, fills pools, and washes cars and sidewalks. While residents can and should reduce their water use through conservation, the biggest savings in residential use will come in how and where we design and build new housing and new communities some expert say.

🐝 Bees are ‘fish’ under Calif. Endangered Species Act (Reuters) Matthew Sanders of Stanford Law School’s Environmental Law Clinic hailed the decision as “a win for the bumblebees, all imperiled invertebrates in California, and the California Endangered Species Act.” Insects are “foundational to California’s agricultural production and healthy ecosystems,” he added.
