You're Invited to Red Deer Polytechnic's Spring Open House!
|

Did you know that RDP is hosting an Open House on June 8 from 6 - 9 pm? Join us as educational leaders and student services experts give the inside scoop on all the programs and services the Polytechnic has to offer.
In the Margaret Parson's Theater we will be hosting presentations all night long, deep-diving into the various program's our school has. If you have specific questions, you can also stop by the Forum to chat with our Polytechnic experts.
If you needed any more reasons to come, we will also be providing guided campus tours, door prizes, swag bags, and refreshments!

Rumour has it....we're accepting more students!

Over the next three years, Red Deer Polytechnic will be receiving approximately $4.5 million in funding from the Government of Alberta to add 880 new seats across the breadth of programs we offer. The funding will permit Red Deer Polytechnic to incrementally add seats to the following high-demand programs:
- Bachelor of Applied Arts in Animation and Visual Effects – 22 seats
- Machine Learning Analyst diploma – 75 seats
- Computer Programming diploma – 40 seats
- Medical Lab Assistant certificate – 64 seats
- Health Care Aide certificate – 150 seats
- Practical Nurse diploma – 144 seats
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (collaborative degree at RDP with University of Alberta) – 168 seats
- Licensed Practical Nurse to Bachelor of Science in Nursing Transition program – 48 seats
The data above outlines total additional seats we will receive during the next three years. Each program has specific designations of expanded seats – with some starting as early as Fall 2022, while others will receive expanded seat capacity starting in 2023.

Financing post-secondary education can be stressful, but we're here to make the experience a little easier!
The Student Connect Centre will be hosting Student Loan Workshops in late June and early July (dates TBA). Sessions will take place in-person, on-campus (room TBA). We will review all information related to student loans, such as, knowing what type of funding you are eligible to apply for, how to apply for funding, and what the next steps are after you have applied.
Information on workshop dates and registration will be distributed later this month.

High School Level Upgrading
|
|
Upgrading your high school education can open the door to many new opportunities. For students looking to meet the admission requirements for post-secondary education, RDP has many options available. For more information on academic upgrading visit our webpage.
UPDATE: High School Level Upgrading Funding
The Foundational Learning Assistance (FLA) program (formerly, Alberta Works) offers grant funding to adult learners enrolled in high school level upgrading courses. The program has recently announced that students no longer have to be out of high school for 12 months in order to be eligible to apply for funding!

Although RDP's Fall term is just around the corner, we are still accepting applications! It is not too late to start or return to your post-secondary journey - apply today!
- To attend this Fall: Deadline to apply is September 3, 2022
- To attend this Winter: Deadline to apply is January 4, 2023

Please encourage students who are interested in waitlisted programs to apply as soon as possible to be placed on the waitlist. As a reminder, applicants can indicate both a first and second choice program on their application for admission (should the first choice program be full, applicants meeting admission requirements will be placed on the waitlist and considered for admission for their second choice program).

The Student Connect Centre will remain open during the summer! While we do not currently offer the opportunity to book appointments, we do have drop-in advising available.
If you would like to speak to an advisor, you can:
- Come by our office (room 1102 on main campus) during our drop-in hours Monday to Thursday from 12:30 pm - 3:30 pm
- Join us for drop-in e-Advising on Fridays, from 10:30 am - 11:30 am or 1:30 pm - 2:30 pm MST
