Hello Pemetic Families,

We have made it through another week: rain, sun, substitutes, masks, school concert and sports.  (7 school days to go!)

Superintendent Zboray says:  Dear MDIRSS Community

I would like to start by thanking our community's families, students, and staff for their understanding of the need to reintroduce masking while Hancock County was identified as red by the CDC. As of Friday morning, Hancock County has returned to yellow.  With that designation, all MDIRSS schools will return to optional masking on Monday, June 6th, and remain in place for the remainder of the school year.

Masking for MDI High School graduation will also be optional.

I am grateful for your understanding as we managed the recent surge and appreciate your support and the promise of end-of-year celebrations throughout our district.

Pennies for Puppies!!! The Darlings Ice Cream Truck will be visiting us on the last day of school and handing out ice cream to all of the children for free. They do this as a fundraiser for a local charity. We are collecting spare change to go to the SPCA. The PTO has also donated $100 to get us started! Let’s shake out those couch cushions and bring in the spare change you find.

There are a lot of class trips between now and the end of school, please make sure your child has the appropriate clothing ( and possibly a bagged lunch if required).

The Scholastic Book Fair was a big success! Thanks to all who donated their time and bought books! (and a special shout out to the PTO for organizing this)

We had another fire drill this week. We were all able to clear the building in 4.5 minutes. Everyone did beautifully. We will be having one more next week.

A big shout out to Mr. Michaud for our first spring concert in 2.5 years! It was great to see the band!

Please remember that my door is always open should anyone have questions or concerns.

Have a great weekend!
